Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

Had mine re-flashed yesterday, I have put about 90 miles on since. So far nothing has changed at all. They connected their device into the obdll port and it reported the vehicle was fully up to date already upon checking my car in. A tech did go out and drive it, then reported that the TSB sheet I handed them was performed. I will continue to drive it and report back. The people I have taken for a ride both said the "thunk" sound they hear is coming from the rear end area and only during light/easy driving conditions.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

I hate that they verify your complaints, but then do absolutely nothing to fix it. I swear they think everything is magically fixed with the latest software update. I want to drop mine off and say "call me when the clunk is gone or lemon law the damn thing". I could probably take it to AutoZone and have them provide the same level of service for free.

My dealer told me there is very little inside the transmission that Chrysler will even have them attempt to fix. They will just send a whole new transmission and send the old one back if they deem it faulty. Well that sounds great, but getting them to that point is about impossible. If the mechanics never get into one of these throwaway transmission how is anyone going to figure out how to fix or diagnose them. So if your transmission doesn't totally fail good luck with it is what I'm gathering.

I'll let you know what happens after my service visit with the "Chrysler Field Tech" on Wednesday. I'm hoping they let me at least talk to the guy, but I'm guessing these guys don't converse with the general public like my service manager. He'll probably just confirm that all the software is up to date. 💩😷

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

Update.

My service department is now going to push Chrysler for a new transmission and torque converter because of the awful drone I've been having the past couple hundred miles. The district manager has to sign off on it though, so it's not a done deal yet. I should know more tomorrow.

I've been having an awful drone the past couple hundred miles when the torque converter locks up at highway speeds. I brought it up with the tech today as I thought the issues may be related. Glad I did. The tech has 20 years of transmission repair experience so I'm taking his word for it. Fingers crossed will update when I hear more.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

I have managed to put an additional 500 miles on since I had the transmission flashed last week. I can say for a fact nothing has changed. It still consistently makes a thunk sound on some downshifts and when lightly letting off and getting back on the throttle. The 6-5 auto downshift is the roughest of all the downshifts but its tolerable.
I am positive the thunk/clunk is from the rear now no doubt, almost rear diff or a shaft. I'm not sure anymore that the clunk/thunk sound I'm experiencing is the same as others in this section. It is defiantly from the rear end area and not the transmission, I just don't know enough to really know exactly where or what part. I will post this in the other forum also incase it might help others.

Wow this is interesting to hear...I will report back and let you know if I notice anything...I have driven mine 1300 miles and have had no notice of the issues you mention, but will specifically check on the situations presented and let you know. My vehicle also had multiple TSB's so will post those if relevant.

Sorry you guys are having issues and wish you the best...Chrysler/Jeep has been very good to me in the past so I hope they rectify things for you all

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

District manager is coming out today to drive my SRT with my service manager. I guess I'm not out of the woods yet. Should know the outcome tonight before 5 or mid morning tomorrow.

New tranny and torque converter on the way. I won't know till tomorrow when they'll have it. I may be getting it back as is until the new tranny comes in if Chrysler deems it safe to drive. I'm fine with that because the minivan rental, Enterprise set me up with smells like a Tijuana prostitute.

Lol. Nice. At least your getting a new tranny and your free minivan smells awesome.

Nice, don't forget to slide in the lifetime warranty on the new tranny. That's the least they can do for forcing you to drive the Tijuana Taxi.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

With about 2000 miles on my SRT it's still noticeably rough when downshifting to 5 from 6 and kind of rough from 5-4. However, it seems to only be rough when the car is in D, S, whatever automatic mode. When I paddle shift, everything is smooth up and down, which tells me it's a software issue causing the rough shifting, not something mechanical. Something in the automatic downshifting routine in those gears is messed up.

I am assuming there's no good way to check whether mine has had all the available software updates/TSB's? Is there a website?

Here a link to the current tsb's. I believe you'd have to take your SRT in to the dealer to see if they have been installed.
