Thanks man...can't believe they had to put a new transmission in yours but it sounds like your problems were way worse than I am (currently) experiencing. Looks like I need to get it into the dealer and check all the TSB's first, and probably do a battery reset afterwards to give it a fair shake before going nuts about it.

QC's definitely a little touch and go on these...I'm a car guy so I've already fixed a bunch of silly little things (like the glovebox rubber bumpers falling off today for instance), rattles, etc.

Love the performance though so far.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

It sounds like I may be getting it back tomorrow at the close of business. My service dept. called and said the transmission is in, but the exhaust still needs to be put back on and test driven. I'm hoping I get her back in good shape.

Yeah if a new tranny fixes the problem I'll be happy for you but pissed that I apparently took delivery of a Jeep that needs a new tranny right out of the gate to have smooth downshifting, regardless of the relative severity of the issues we've experienced.

I'm interested to hear the results. Every time I go to my dealers service department they seem to create more issues than they fix. A tranny replacement on a brand new srt would make me nervous. Hope it all works out for you.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

I'll let you know. Believe me I'm not trilled about my SRT with 1500 miles on it ending a new transmission. My dealer has assured me their trans tech with twenty plus years of experience will be doing the job. Still not thrilled, but at least I'm getting the veteran. What's bothering me the most right now I'd the black marks on my vehicles car fax report. I'm feeling like my vehicles value has been diminished and it only has 1500 miles on it. This was supposed to be my garage queen that I only drove when the weather was nice. Now it feels like a trampy girlfriend that has literally been around the block too many times. Hopefully that Hemi will let me overlook all her sins.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

I'm going to start the conversation with the service manager myself today...the clunking really just sounds like something is loose to me, bad motor mount or shaft or something, clunks when it "releases" and then clunks again when it "loads up". Strange that it only does it in a few gears when getting on/off the throttle though.

I'm going to make sure they investigate all the mounts, etc. before they go for the full tranny.

What a pain in the ass.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

It's getting worse rapidly now for some reason, 2200 miles. Clunks on/off throttle in 4-5-6 gears. Have an appointment to ride along with service manager tomorrow, haven't worked with him yet but I hear he's good and is mentioned by name positively in many online reviews...keeping my fingers crossed.

Nearly everything else about the truck is great so far, so this is really disappointing to have a problem with a major driveline component.

Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

I just got finished washing my SRT after picking her up last night and putting some miles on her today. I'm happy to tell you all the new transmission is a night and day difference. No more 6-5 clunk just a nice firm shift without jerking me forward. I put about 60 miles on it since I picked it up and it just seems to be improving. I think this tranny is actually learning to improve it's shifting, unlike the original. It acts like a completely different vehicle and I'm pleased with it. I'll put some more miles on it and report back with any issues.

The only thing I wasn't happy about, was after picking it up last night, I heard a tink, tink noise then looked behind me and saw something in the road. I thought it was a socket at first, but then doubled back to be sure. Turns out it was about a four inch long bolt, so I picked it up out of the roadway and burnt me fingers, confirming it was from my SRT. So I high tailed it back to the dealership to make it there before close. Turns out it was one of the bolts holding the exhaust to the exhaust manifold on the left side. Tech promptly reinstalled it and apologized and I was on my way.

Re: Drivetrain "clunk" noise - 2014 wk2 srt

Not good news for me that it sounds like it's going to take a new tranny to fix the problem, but definitely happy that the issue is solved for you and that there is a pathway to a solution that can be shared with the service manager. Would you mind PM'ing me with your dealership and the name of the service manager you dealt with so they can communicate experiences if necessary?

Wondering if there was a batch of bad trannies and we just got a bum deal, but at least there's a resolution it seems.
