Error U0151 !!?

Started the car this morning, drove for a while then out of No where the airbag light comes on & The cruise control doesn't work any more !

I stopped the car few times turned it off then Started it again.

Even if it goes, it comes back ON in couple of seconded.

At the stored messages it shows (Service Airbag System)

Also I get (Cruise/FCW Unavailable. Service required)

Active Diagnostic codes gives me U0151 but some times it doesn't show anything .

Re: Error U0151 !!?

This is the first I've seen of this code (no TSBs on this for WK2s) but it's not rare for jeeps in general.

0151 (Lost Communication With Sensing And Diagnostic Module)

My two guesses right now are:

1) Loose fuse - not likely, but easy to check.

2) Faulty 'clock spring'.

"The clock spring is used to maintain a continuous electrical circuit between the instrument panel wire harness and the driver side airbag module, the horn switch, and the cruise control switches."

It appears a bad clock spring is synonymous with a U0151 code + one additional code that is seemingly unrelated.

I don't know if this is even a way to diagnose this problem but my first guess would be to drive straight and slow in a empty parking lot (see if the code pops then) and if not, then try turning your steering wheel both left and then right from lock-to-lock.

And if you can get the code to pop, I guess you can try and activate your horn. This is all speculative as I have no idea what systems are connected through this "clock spring" on our jeeps.

Re: Error U0151 !!?

U0151 is a LOC (loss of communication) code for ORC (occupant restraint controller).
verify airbag fuses are good and fully inserted.
