Gotcha!! I have done that and checked everything I could think of, and still throwing the codes! They just replaced my gas door as it was uneven and loose, so I am hoping it will be a simple fix...thanks for your help...will update after my trip to the dealer next week

Did you try unhooking the battery for a bit?

Didn't do that first, but did do it right after my post and viola no more codes! Have driven it about 40 miles and 6 starts...plus I fllled up with gas and no issues yet. Will report back, but this could be one of those "gremlin" /Jeep electrical issues. Going to the dealer Monday and will see what they say, will report back.

Thanks again all for the assistance!

Cleared the codes...about 12 start-ups later they all came back. He is at the dealer now...will report back what they think is the issue

Re: "Evap System Small Leak" - P0456

Just bought my first Jeep 2 weeks ago, a 2014 GC Ltd with the 5.7 and now I get the MIL at 37,700 miles. Read the codes and it came back with the evap issues. I have not been able to get it to the dealer, as they are booked until Aprill 22. I hope that is not a sign of things to come. Usually if a dealer is that busy, it means all the newer vehicles are having problems and that is why they are so busy. Did I make a mistake in buying this Jeep?!

Yep...picked it up Wednesday and have had 10+ startups with no issues. They found a slight leak and took care of it (hopefully). Will report back with any issues. Smoke test revealed "smoke coming out of evap line from canister to purge valve"...they had to remove inner fender well and rear wheel. Should be situated...will report back

Re: "Evap System Small Leak" - P0456

Did you ever get this issue resolved? If so what was the root cause. I have a 2014 GC with the same P0456 codes as well. Mine are intermittent.

Re: "Evap System Small Leak" - P0456

I did get my issue solved. I found out that if you try to "top off" the tank after the gas pump has shut off, it could go into the evap system and cause the check engine light to come on. It went off after a few trips and it happened one other time when a gas pump failed to shut off in time and it overflowed a little bit. So now I pay attention to how many gallons of gas are pumped and stop the pump manually. That should alleviate the issue of getting gas into the evap system, unless there is really a leak in a hose or the valve or something else. If the vehicle is fairly new I would say the system should be ok.
