Exhaust Goop / Alignment

Just recently upgraded to a 2016 SRT. It is now about 2 weeks old and I noticed an odd clunking noise from the rear passenger side when I put the truck in reverse.

Looking at it closer I noticed that the passenger side exhaust is bent or something, it doesn’t align like the drivers side. Also when I look under the truck it looks like there was tar or something sprayed all over the bottom of the vehicle as a repair or something (with the dust cover removed) that then dripped all over the exhaust pipes etc. It is quite a mess. Has anyone else seen anything like this on their vehicle?

Have you been able to take your vehicle back to the selling FCA dealership? I’d like to make sure the dealership is aware of the condition of your vehicle, so please let me know if I can help out in any way.

Talked to them as well. Seems that they noticed a problem with the resonator when doing their initial inspection and tried to fix it (but failed to tell me). They say parts are on order & they will fix it all when they arrive. I'm going to dig in further and try to find out exactly what the issue is.

Re: Exhaust Goop / Alignment

So problem appears to have been 2-fold. Exhaust was bent from factory & just had new one installed today by dealer under warranty. New one is perfect, and much less vibration on the truck.

The goop stems from the underbody rust protection which was installed on a rainy day without drying the truck off first, and without leaving it to cure. Basically it seems the detailer drove the truck from the shop back to the dealership in the pouring rain without letting the coating cure. Nice.

Lucky break for the detailing shop as the exhaust replacement meant they did;t have much cleanup to do.

Onward & upward!
