Fan noise

Hi All

Just noticed on my 2015 today a very audible fan noise from the engine bay while driving then takes about 5-10 sec for the fan to shut off after I've turned the engine off....... Anyone had this problem? Should I be worried?

It's going to the dealer next week for a new tail shaft under warranty I will run it by them for an answer too.

Any advice is appreciated.

The fan is electric and comes on and off depending on temp. If you are moving slowly or idling you can definitely hear it run depending on temp. Mine will run a few seconds at power off also.

Re: Fan noise

This is definitely new, not normal for my rig. Will keep an eye on it today and switch the the stock Tstat back in later if it keeps up

Re: Fan noise

Well, on my way to the office this morning she started to overheat and got to just passed the middle between H & C on the dial and coolant temps over 107 degrees Celsius. I had planned to change the thermostat back to stock so had it with me but wasn't planning on overheating!

Here was the culprit;

She was cracked pretty bad and noticeably bent as soon as it came out. Switched it over to OEM, bled the lines & topped up the coolant and she is purring like a kitten.

So stoked it didn't overheat too much and was just the Tstat....... Hope this helps anyone else who has an aftermarket Tstat, mine was 6 months old and a reputable brand.

Re: Fan noise

Is there any noticeable vibration associated with the fan noise?

Mine was a Mishimoto, but I think it was unlucky as they are good Tstats.

No it was just the engine bay fans staying on while driving and after turning off the motor. No vibration and it's fixed now with the new Tstat
