I noticed today that both sides of my Jeep have the plastic fender flares peeling up.. Anyone else notice the plastic trim above the wheels coming unstuck yet? ITs only held on with adhesive and ill be going to the dealership to have it fixed ASAP.
I've been fixing mine as they come up or undone. Some seam sealer a couple clamps / tape and the next day good as new. I'd rather do this then have the dealer messing around with 2 sided sticky tape.
But thats the problem. These fender flares have been in use now for 3 years and yet still some are coming loose. Ridiculous. Chrysler really could not care less.
Not that this thread needs more confirmation but new 2015 with 150 kms, passenger flare coming off like others. Ordered a new one, got it painted and installed. Then ran my fingers along the edge and it was uneven, bumpy - like WTF!
Having them either re-attach the old one or order and properly paint a new one. First NA vehicle and already had 2 quality control issues - other was a loose bolt eventually found under the gear compartment I believe.
I had same in mine 2014 April '13 build. I used some gorilla glue in a syringe and got it fixed up, but this summer had the dealer replace it and a clip was missing... Still not perfect, but not terrible
after 4 trips to 2 different dealers, and a new set of flares painted and installed, Chrysler finally advised the dealer to install flares with urethane adhesive vs. 3M tape. Seems tape was separating in half. Been fine ever since.
After reading this thread, I checked my 15 and noticed the rear driver side fender flare is starting to pop off. I can push my knee against it and it sticks for a few days but then I notice it begins to peel away again. Guess will mention to dealer at next service
Man that sucks.
I hope I don't have this problem after buying a 65K vehicle. I will not be happy about it at all. Does Jeep or SRT offer any thing for your troubles for such a high dollar vehicle?
when I picked up my 15 from the dealership, the drivers side front fender was already popped out….literally hadn't even driven it yet….I am able to push the rivet/clip back in and it holds for an hour or so, then pops back out….my issue is not from the adhesive tape, its actually a clip that pops in/out. will get it addressed early new year.
WTF Jeep!!! you'd think you have a permanent fix for this!!!!
It's actually pretty pathetic to have a problem like this on any vehicle this day and age. I mean it's a basically a frigging moulding; they've been around a long time.
I have a 14 SRT, the left front flare, came un stuck in the front, I just got a piece of 3m double sided trim tape, and pushed it down into the gap and re stuck it, may not be the best idea, but saved a drive across town and an all day wait at the dealers service dept.....at least for now
My passenger side rear flare has been popped out (bad adhesive) since I picked it up brand new from the showroom floor. I keep fixing it with adhesive tape but the heat from the weather causes it to pop out again.
Add me to the list...I have a 2014...both front fenders are coming off...my neighbor has a 2014 as well and took his in 3 times before he finally got a fix that worked...I'll be taking mine in next week.
Mine is sticking out... The tape is holding the trim, but the whole fender on passengers side is out about 1/4 inch... They claim they put clips in it... I don't think so
Finally got my rig into the dealership….they said they've never had to repair any other Wk2's for this issue…..anyway, they had a mechanic come look at it….he was going to attempt to change out some clips, but after looking at it, he said their body shop will have to do this job. So I went down to their body shop with provided new OEM baggie of clips from dealership. Bodyshop inspects, and states that if they replace with same clips, in time they will do the exact same thing, as they are intended to do this (unclip) if you ever remove the front bumper. I was advised you need to remove the front bumper, if you ever have to replace the headlight assembly, whether this is true or not, I have no idea, but this is why they did not want to appoxy/glue the flare permanently. Bodyshop suggests that if they put a screw up thru the flare into the liner, it will never be seen, removed easily, and will not allow the fender to pop again. Gave them the go ahead and its now fixed. They did both sides too. Ill get a pic over the weekend, to show exactly where they did this. Happy to have this fixed, but not impressed with Jeep for having such a poor flare design.
Add me to the list, 2015!! R/R qtr flare sticking out about an 1/8 of an inch. I can press on it to make it flush again but pops out when I let go. Unbelievable that this happens on a vehicle like this, actually any vehicle today. Mouldings been on cars for 40+ years. Really not rocket science.
didn't look prior to new screw installed by body shop in the fender, but this is what is there now…and this fixed my issue….there are two screws there in the pic, not sure which one they added...
Problem is that some are coming loose at the top, where they rest against the painted part of the fender, not the bottom, near the wheel well opening....
One of my fender moldings has been coming apart since delivery of my 2015 - the dealership attempted to replace it under warranty, though Chrysler denied the claim and refused to replace it, stating that the adhesive should be removed and replaced and the old part reattached.
I called the SRT hotline and the rep states that if Chrysler denied the warranty, SRT can't intervene and change the decision but he would attempt to resolve the issue. The end result...SRT is covering the cost of the brand new part!
The SRT rep stated that he's never heard of this issue, but suggested that I knew of anyone else with the same problem I should have the contact the SRT line so they can help resolve the issue.
The SRT department has money set aside in their budget to help us out - they want us as long term customers and will do what's necessary to make us happy.

Do you have the contact info for SRT? I'm having issues finding a qualified tech to diagnose my 6-5 clunk. My regional service manager is shooting down all the dealerships in my area because they don't sell/service enough SRT's. It only seems right that SRT sends someone out to look at it if that's the case.
