Post Re: First Problem (and it's the Trans!)

Got my truck back yesterday and all is well so far!!

After replacing several parts, the final major component malfunction turned out to be the FCW (according to the dealer). They said an electrical fault was causing the FCW to believe a crash was eminent. This was causing it to override the trans shifting ability.

Also, after replacing the trans control module the 4x4 did not work. They said they had it on the lift and only the rear wheels turned! (That would have been fun for me at first, but winter is coming!!) After that call, I never got an explanation on what caused it or how they fixed it.

I asked for a print out of the work that was preformed but they hesitated and said they would mail it to me within a week. They handed me my key, and off I went with not even a page!. All they said was at least a thousand dollars in parts were replaced. I don't feel everything was kosher with that.

Why would the FCW need the ability to control the trans. I understand it would control braking and acceleration during cruise, but the trans? Questionable to me (not that I know anything about cars).

I will update when I have a more logical picture of what went wrong. Hopefully the print out will be given to me in its entirety and that should give us a better explanation.

Re: First Problem (and it's the Trans!)

i had a similar problem with my jeep when i first picked it up from dealer. the paddle shifters didn't work. i thought nothing of it, maybe they weren't plugged in. that turned out to be a serious computer problem that effected the day time running lights, down to the evic screen. i was shocked, took the dealer and Chrysler 2 weeks to fix.
As for the paperwork, upon signing out they gave me nothing as well and mailed it to my house. when i got it, i laughed my ass off. It was 5 pages long and had paragraphs of conversations between chryco and the dealership. i know what u r going thru, it sucks.
at some point during one of my many "i hate jeep/srt sessions," i emailed SRT public relations. Ralph Gilles has 2 PR contacts on his home page on drivesrt, i emailed both with a detailed description of my issues. 3 hours later i got a call on my cell and they gave me a personal assistant at chryco. long story short the warranty on my truck was extended to 100k for the inconvenience, never had a problem since, except for the cheap adhesive fender flairs.

This is ridiculous that SRT does not get a Proper treatment ,it should get a different treatment ,paying over $60k should give you a VIP treatment like Mercedes gives their customers....and since SRT is its own brand now, they should have their own Service shops....
