I thought it reset with each on/off cycle bu yesterday I started up and did one windshield mist and I noticed my the cloud of mist out front....had to get my microfiber out to clean up the headlights...really wish it was as OP said on-demand or was like seat heat, selectable so I could only have it on in the winter....not a big deal as usually when you use them weather is bad and car is trashed so who cares but there are many times where the car is pretty clean and I just want a squirt on the windshield only...
and then back on to use or to to forget to put back in auto, nah, stays in auto 100%...no big, I just avoid using the mist outside of inclement weather.
I plan on disconnecting the headlight washer pump motor connector at the washer resoivor, just dont want blue stained down the front bumper on the white paint.
It was an experimental application. I like everything either painted or polished on the exterior and don't like raw plastic cosmetics. Painting those plastic black parts will be a pita to maintain bc of the honeycomb design (bugs, rock chips, etc). However vinyl snaps back into shape from rock dents, doesn't scratch and bugs wipe right off. Wrapping the washer was easier/quicker than the bottom fascia one which I'm gonna try gloss black on it.
I hate those washers bc my front is clean 99% of the time. The first time I noticed overspray on my front I was confused as heck to what had occurred?? Then I saw a video of the washers on YouTube. I disconnected the pump and lines when I removed the OEM washer bottle for the BWoody.
I disabled our headlight washers the day ours came off transport, didn't want blue washer fluid stains down the front bumper, ended up just being a easy fuse pull
The multifunction lever operates the headlight
washers when the ignition switch is in
the ON position and the headlights are
turned on. The multifunction lever is located
on the left side of the steering column.
To use the headlight washers, push the multifunction
lever inward (toward the steering
column) and release it. The headlight washers
will spray a timed high-pressure spray of
washer fluid onto each headlight lens. In
addition, the windshield washers will spray
the windshield and the windshield wipers will
cycle.
NOTE:
After turning the ignition switch and headlights
ON, the headlight washers will operate
on the first spray of the windshield washer
and then every eleventh spray after that.
