Help Pls on Diagnosing a Rough Idle (RIPP SC)

I'm trying to solve a intermittent Rough Idle on my SRT:
- RIPP Installed
- Got it after some hard driving on an advanced drivers course
- Replaced the Spark Plugs already and borescoped + compression tested the engine
- Runs perfectly when moving
- Only runs rough at Idle and can also throw a CEL P0172 - Rich Bank 1 (and sometime P0175 - Rich Bank 2) at this point.

I've not heard back from RIPP for about a month after sending some e-mails, and the Jeep dealer are only guessing it could be an O2 or MAP sensor....so to help myself I've got myself an OBDII Dongle and have the andriod app "Torque" to look/gauge/log various PIDs.

Any suggestions of what Data I should be looking at to help narrow down the rough Idle?

Thanks
Nathan

Who tuned it and have you talked to your tuner?

Re: Help Pls on Diagnosing a Rough Idle (RIPP SC)

As an example, here are some screen shots of my O2 Sensors while at Idle (car warmed up).... I understand from Front O2 Sensors (1x1 and 2x1) should show a regular saw tooth pattern, and the Back O2 Sensors should be a flattish line around 0.45.

I'm using the tunes from RIPP themselves and have sent logs back to them... so while I wait I thought I'd see what I could find out myself. It was perfect prior to the hard driving on the course on their tune, just rough at idle now.

Re: Help Pls on Diagnosing a Rough Idle (RIPP SC)

I called RIPP who suggested getting a Boost Leak Check done.

^^This is the first thing I thought of too.
Maybe you are running too rich now? I'd be careful driving your Jeep or getting on it really hard. You don't want to cause any major damage.
Good luck and keep us posted.

Boost leak, meaning vacuum leak?

I ran my boosted 08 pig rich and beat the shit out of it on a daily basis. I dont think he needs to worry about being rich. Leaning out is a different story though.

Re: Help Pls on Diagnosing a Rough Idle (RIPP SC)

Yeah I'm not really sure why a Boost Leak Check would help, as the issue is intermittent (comes and goes) and only at idle (runs perfectly otherwise). At idle the BOV is open anyway venting happily away, so if a leak was an issue it would need to be post the throttle body and I've already had a compression test done so no leaks from the engine itself.

It wouldnt hurt to just double check all your vacuum lines, I doubt thats the problem but have seen weirder stuff happen lol. I'm not real familiar yet with the Diablo capabilities on the 14's. Can you shut off the 02's with your Trinity, just to rule that out? What kind of map sensor are you using?
Me personally I would log it with my Trinity if thats what your using and send the log to one of the reputable hemi tuners and ask them if they see anything in the logs. If your not familiar with any tuners shoot me a PM, not sure if I can post their info on here.

Re: Help Pls on Diagnosing a Rough Idle (RIPP SC)

Yeah I've checked the Vac lines (pulled them on/off at idle) and they are fine (from what I can tell

The RIPP kits comes with it's own MAP sensor and a Diablo InTune that I've used it to both send logs to RIPP and to then update the tune when they come back. I've not heard back from RIPP on the last log I sent but the reason I got the other setup is the Diablo does not read the O2 volts (OBDII Dongle / "Torque" will).

Any news yet back on this?

What is your overall impression on the RIPP kit?
And with RIPP overall, it does'nt seem their customer service is that high if they are making a client wait this long.
