Hollow Floors?

Just like the title says. When I get in to my Jeep on either drivers or passengers side, I hear what sounds like a hollow or false floor. It almost sounds as if the sheet metal underneath is banging on more metal. This is my third WK2 Jeep and neither of the other two ever made that sound. I can actually tap on it with my fist and you hear / feel metal reverberations. Anyone have any clue as to what is going on here? Maybe it was involved in an unreported accident with the first owner. Or perhaps the first owner was a drug smuggler and there is false floors in it.

Thanks

John

Re: Hollow Floors?

This started in MY14. We all blamed the guy in the body shop who was a member here. If I recall correctly it is a stiff backing on the carpet. My '14 Overland felt like that, but eventually it settled in. My '17 Summit is the same.

I hate to sound like a service manager, but it is normal.
