Re: Message: Service Adaptive Damping Suspension System

I have had this service warning since I purchased my 2014 SRT used with 20k miles.
I recently got is back from a service, and needed the vehicle to head to work.

I noticed when I left that the service warning was still on.
And the the front suspension was making a thud/clunk noise like some bushing are worn out. I can hear the clunking at all speeds, even on the high way.
I asked the advisor what is was, and he said that the noise is normal in winter. he said he inspected it on the lift to see if anything was worn out.

I arrived at work and asked a collegue who drives an srt and he said his is super quite.

My suspension also feels really stiff. Is this something that would be fixed by an update or something that is worn out.

If you have this message, the system is probably in completely stiff mode. Not fun.

You need to resolve the warning issue, possible a sensor or something.

Re: Message: Service Adaptive Damping Suspension System

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a service booked for December 11th, which brings me to two more questions.

1. Even if its a sensor, and the ride is stiff because of that, would that actually be the cause for the front end to start knocking.
Has any one else experienced a noise along with the warning? Especially in the cold?

2. Will driving it like this till december 11th, cause any futher damage?

Was your suspension making any noise when your warning was up?

No noise just all very stiff. Had 3 different software updates and a couple recalls. Only have 2k miles on it. Haha. Have had for a year.

Wow, sounds horrible.

I booked it in for earlier than the 11th, I am beginning to think maybe its blown shocks... But right now Im just paranoid. I just dont understand why I would make a constant clunking noise.

Does anyone else have any input on what could be causing this noise? It sounds like a strut is worn out, but like I said the advisor inspected it so i assume he would have noticed a worn strut.

Re: Message: Service Adaptive Damping Suspension System

I had a similar problem where the service notice came up and suspension remained in a "hard" state.

I booked it in and it was as I had read somewhere else here, a wire that is situated somewhere around the left or right rear shock had been damaged.

They repaired it, reroute do the wire somewhere away from the shock and all is well.

Search the forum somewhere, it's here.

Re: Message: Service Adaptive Damping Suspension System

After reading this whole thread, (almost twice actually), it probably is a good idea to zip tie those wires to the wire connectors/shock after taking delivery of the Jeep SRT and make sure they are away from anything that may rub against them and cause damage. (Just a thought.)
I still wonder if the update may need to be done though if that specific CEL comes on. If so, I hope SRT has been working on a "fix" on this specifically for future Jeep SRTs so it does not come on.
