Moisture inside head lights

Hey guys. Just drove home my 2014 SRT. Both headlights have moisture in them. This was not evident during the day at the dealer. We saw the moisture this evening after about 30-45 mins of driving.

Anyone else seen this?

Saw a TSB on this over at WK2Jeeps.com. Here's the link:

Ahhh. Thank you. Hopefully over time it'll dissipate.

Not a mechanic but I have seen a few cars do this through my dealer. My first guess is that the headlights rear housing isn't sealed up properly.

Weird that both lights are doing it

Re: Moisture inside head lights

Condensation is quite normal for these headlights. Looks shit, but its normal.

Same problem here. 2014 Overland. I noticed it when I took delivery and it's still present 800 miles later. I'm bringing it in tomorrow. I'll follow up with how it goes.

We have about 5000 on the SRT now. Lights still fog up...but it's less now and doesn't appear to be as often. We have a new pair waiting for us to swap out. Just haven't made time.

Re: Moisture inside head lights

This is addressed in a TSB;

"SUBJECT:

Exterior Lamp Condensation And Fogging

OVERVIEW:

This bulletin involves evaluating lamp condensation and fogging condition.

DISCUSSION:

Some customers may report that on occasion, vehicle exterior lamp assemblies are fogged
with a light layer of condensation on the inside of the lenses. This may be reported after the lamps have been turned on and brought up to operating temperature, turned off, and then rapidly cooled by cold water (such as rain, or the water from a car wash). Lens fogging can also occur under certain atmospheric conditions after a vehicle has been parked outside overnight (i.e., a warm humid day followed by clear cool night). This will usually clear as atmospheric conditions change to allow the condensation to change back into a vapor. Turning the lamps on will usually accelerate this process.
A lamp that exhibits condensation/fogging should be evaluated in a service bay environment by first drying all water from the outside surface of the lens and operating the lamp for 20 minutes. If the condensation/fogging has begun to clear from the lamp lens after 20 minutes with the lamps operating, this indicates the lamp sealing has not been breached, and the lamp does not need to be replaced"

So is this a line of bs when these dealers tell you they won't get paid for performing these tsbs if and when they plug their diagnostic tool into the vehicle and it doesn't say your particular vehicle applies for the list of tsbs that you may want performed?

Re: Moisture inside head lights

I saw this condition on test drive, disappeared then reappeared after I took home. Then all condensation disappeared after a day of driving with lights on and has not returned.

Garage
It's normal for all vented headlamps....

But....If you see water droplets or runs.....that's not normal.
