Oil capacity is 7 quarts?

When I change the oil i noticed the dip stick indicates full at 6 1/3 quarts!! (After driving it and letting it settle for an hour). Isn't the oil capacity supposed to be 7 quarts? Has any one else come across this and what's right? Thanks!

My first oil change at Danbury Jeep where I bought my Vapor SRT took 7 quarts which is what the owners manual lists. On my second oil change at Milford jeep they charged me for 8 quarts because they claimed it took slightly over 7 quarts and if they open a bottle you have to pay for it. They also used Pennzoil 5W40 instead of the 0W40 called out in the owners manual. I called them back to complain and they said they would include it in my Jeep's profile and I also included it on my Jeep Research feedback survey and never received a reply from them. In answer to your question in a previous post it was mentioned that our Jeeps needed to drain for 30 minutes or more to get all of the oil out, so maybe you still had original oil still in the crankcase. I hope this helps.

Thanks for the reply! Kevin who is the Parts manager at Danbury Jeep stocks the 0W-40 PU and the SRT filters! Also his price for the oil is cheaper than the internet price! Yes I do let it drain for quite a long time! I was thinking of the posibility maybe some of it is in the Oil cooler and lines? If you live in the Danbury and ever want to get together for a coffee or something let me know! I'm always at the Milplain Star Bucks!
