oil change message

Just wondering what other owners have had for milage when change oil light came on?
Seems odd that mine would come on at 4300km /2700 miles.
At $170.00 for this service I hope this is not the norm.

Re: oil change message

I had my first one come on at like 2000km, it all depends on how you drive. The first one comes on sooner then the rest to get out the factory break in oil. My next one came at 9800km, and now I'm at 16000 and nothing yet will probably go another 3k or so on this oil.

And 170$? What a rip off, I bought my own mobil 1 from Canadian tire and took it to the dealer they changed the oil and filter cost me like 105$ total.

Re: oil change message

Mine didn't come on but i got it changed at 3000 miles because i got a complimentary first oil change and because of old habits. Now it has been 4000 miles more and no oil change light yet. I drive everyday and will put on about 20,000 miles per year at least. will let you know when it comes on for the first time.

Re: oil change message

It's different for everyone as the computer adapts to your driving habits and will adjust oil change intervals to that.

Wow $105 for labor + filter what a rip off. This jeep is supper easy. You dont even have to jack it up. There is an opening you reach up into and the plug is right there and the filter is a little higher up to the left. Super easy.

Re: oil change message

Should I wait for my light to come on to change my oil? I'm almost at 5000 miles since last change. Also should I put synthetic or part synthetic?

If you are not already running synthetic, my thought would be to change the oil now and go full synthetic.

But I am in Canada also, where we pay like 13$ a quart of Mobil 1 0w-40 that I use in my wk2 srt8, so it sounds about right for us, we get ripped off but no big deal.

Re: oil change message

105 bucks for the oil change is not bad considering that the oil alone costs close to 70 bucks. Then you have the filter.....
