Oil Temp Question

Bought my 2014 GC SRT 1/1/14. I've been reading this forum since then. I just moved to Tucson (Green Valley specifically) 2 weeks ago.

I pulled a 4500 lbm trailer from Florida to Arizona. The drive would have been actually fun if I didn't have to pull the trailer. I really got jealous watching other vehicles going 80 mph+ up, down, and around mountains. I generally was pulling between 60 - 65 mph.

It got interesting in east Texas and east Arizona. The afternoon ambient temps got up to 110 F. Add that to the mountains inclines. The coolant temp was rock solid, but the oil temp was quite affected. I noticed the oil temp range from 220 F (normal), to as high as 248 F. That got me concerned so I had to manage that by slowing down, sometimes to 50 mph at times.

Which leads me to my question - The 248 F oil temp was less than 2/3 of the displayed oil temp scale. The scale itself had no temps on it, but 1/2 coincided with the 225 F digital readout. The scale starts to register when the digital readout says 125 F. That implies each quarter scale increment is 50 F. My reckoning says the high end of the scale is probably 325 F.

If this is accurate, and because the 248 F is far short of the high limit of the scale (which is highlighted in red only at the very end), then the 248 F is probably not that serious for a short time.

Does anybody have any opinion, or actual data to validate my assumption?

Re: Oil Temp Question

Well, firstly I am kind of surprised no one has responded to my initial question.

Secondly, I am rather embarrassed that I was not able to access My SRT App page (actually I didn't realize it existed) until a couple of weeks ago. In the gauge page I found my answer. The oil temp gauge displayed there did label the incremental temp hashes, and they are the values I reckonned. Therefore, the 246 F oil temp I was concerned about would be about 5/8 of the gauge range - which I am not so concerned about after all.
