Re: Poor Finish on Spyder Monkey - Dealer warranty?
Thanks for the comments fellas and while I agreed with some of the statements, I still believe there have been enough issues with the vehicle that fall under QA/QC (again - bad paint, poor coating on wheels, molding around wheels, window seals replaced, USB/ SD card fails, etc) that should have been rectified since there are a number of people with same issue(s). Sure - it is the new biz model to outsource, esp. overseas, generally at detriment to quality (at the benefit of price). If you choose this route, you do have to est. QA/QC as Boeing found out on the 787 (an extreme example sure - but underscores cost of not getting process or "spec" right from the start). I won't belabor this since I think we have had some good conversations here and feel we can conclude that there are some things that 95% of owners will not be bothered by and whether this is acceptable for a $72k hallmark Jeep is a matter of opinion. I personally had to reach a bit from my Summit to get into the SRT so I expected a bit more on some of these issues, BUT had I come from a German SUV, I think that would be just as noticeable, yet would find some solace in the $20-$50k cost savings. Lastly, per Jeeps Cust Satisfaction rating, a 40% difference from top ten to bottom is substantial, statistically speaking, but this I see as more of an aberration given the roll out of new tech, primarily re: the uConnect. It takes time to get these right (read: BMD MMI system) so I hope that some of these minor things can be addressed and, in time, Jeep should work its way back to the mid pack of JD Powers. Until then, I can say that I have been supremely satisfied with my local dealers efforts to take care of issues. I will see how they come back on my latest list of fixes...
