Re: Poor Finish on Spyder Monkey - Dealer warranty?

all of them have their problems.....BUT I feel jeepers are a little more outspoken. Plus this new breed of SRT owners coming from german and higher end cars seem to put this jeep on a platform that thye didn't expect from their other cars. that's just my opinion. I was on a Hyundai lot couple weeks ago because I saw their new Genesis sedan on the platform, prominent for all gawkers. What did I see but a misaligned, coming loose bumper and a misaligned hatch. Everyone here can moan and gripe about jeep...but when the best cars in the world have 90-100 problem per 100 cars and jeep has 140 or 160...whatever it is..... problems per 100 jeeps.....they aren't that far off...statistically speaking. And truly most of them are nit picky things. I could've taken my brand new 2014 in for 2 runs in the wheel finish...but the wheel had to be turned to a certain angle, in certain light and within 6" to even see it. The paint on my 2014 is perfect....no runs, spots or even orange peel...but I can say that is because redline 2 has been around awhile maybe. JNAP has painted durnago rt's redline for 4 years.
Lets see your hood spots....just curious

Re: Poor Finish on Spyder Monkey - Dealer warranty?

I am not making excuses for Jeep/Chrysler but can explain about a few of your complaints. My parents both worked for Chrysler so have a little insight on this. When Chrysler was doing well they made their own paint and wheels. When they fell on hard times they sold off all of those part/supplier plants. When you own something and make it yourself you have a lot more control over it. Sure, Chrysler could demand their suppliers use more QC or even start rejecting supplies at an even more increasing rate. But it is not the same as if you were making it yourself and had complete control over it.

Are some of you under the impression that Chrysler actually makes the parts for these vehicles?

Re: Poor Finish on Spyder Monkey - Dealer warranty?

Thanks for the comments fellas and while I agreed with some of the statements, I still believe there have been enough issues with the vehicle that fall under QA/QC (again - bad paint, poor coating on wheels, molding around wheels, window seals replaced, USB/ SD card fails, etc) that should have been rectified since there are a number of people with same issue(s). Sure - it is the new biz model to outsource, esp. overseas, generally at detriment to quality (at the benefit of price). If you choose this route, you do have to est. QA/QC as Boeing found out on the 787 (an extreme example sure - but underscores cost of not getting process or "spec" right from the start). I won't belabor this since I think we have had some good conversations here and feel we can conclude that there are some things that 95% of owners will not be bothered by and whether this is acceptable for a $72k hallmark Jeep is a matter of opinion. I personally had to reach a bit from my Summit to get into the SRT so I expected a bit more on some of these issues, BUT had I come from a German SUV, I think that would be just as noticeable, yet would find some solace in the $20-$50k cost savings. Lastly, per Jeeps Cust Satisfaction rating, a 40% difference from top ten to bottom is substantial, statistically speaking, but this I see as more of an aberration given the roll out of new tech, primarily re: the uConnect. It takes time to get these right (read: BMD MMI system) so I hope that some of these minor things can be addressed and, in time, Jeep should work its way back to the mid pack of JD Powers. Until then, I can say that I have been supremely satisfied with my local dealers efforts to take care of issues. I will see how they come back on my latest list of fixes...
