Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

I had these same symptoms. Popping noise and jerking feeling in the rear of the vehicle. The guy who runs the motorsports division of the service department at Woodhouse took it for a few minutes and basically drove in circles slowly. After that my symptoms are gone. I am not technical, but he explained it as discs in the differential just being tight. It seems to be fine now.

Point is NO matter what you pay for a vehicle...that is mass produced, hand made or one of a kind.....$10000-$10,000,000....someone, somewhere is gonna have a problem. Sux for the owner.....but its just reality. $60K is not a lot for a vehcile nowadays. Hell....Kia's and Hyundais are getting in that range.....

Why a bing search?

Use google.

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

The dealer I'm using was allocated 2 Jeep SRT8's I'm on the order list for one waiting for my vin# but it is SOLD in my name. I have a brand new RT Durango in my Garage 1500 miles the seats are like sitting on a hard park bench.

The engineers will get the issues fixed, but....this Jeep SRT has a lot of electronic wizardry to make both front and rear work in harmony having said that, I'm buying an extended warranty for this rig after reading whats happening!!

I'm glad I'm on the list for builds at a later date...hard to believe that a vehicle of this price point and anticipation could leave the production line & Q/C and have a shot/defective drive-train system with 12 miles on the clock.

The sad part is this will hold up production...looks like DEC/JAN before many see their rigs come rolling in including me.

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

When I bought my 2010 the units right before mine had to have the entire dash replaced after assembly for some defect. They had 4 years to figure that dash out and they still had "issues".
Hopefully, its just a few units and it's over.

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

As far as the oil issue goes, the engineers in the 9/1 forum stated that the oil was 5w40. So they changed it to 0w40, how much of an issue can that be? Even in the coldest weather the oil isn't going to be 0 weight for long with the engine running. At the worst that is involved? An oil change and a flash update to the CPU? I think the real issues have to be what Schleprock has been talking about - drive train. We probably won't know the extent of the problem until we get back reports of what it's taking to fix them.

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

I was very anxious to get my Deep Cherry Red. It's been over four months since I ordered it, but now I'll just let them take their good old time so I get a good one.

I'm sure Milous knows and is enjoying reading our posts and having a chuckle or two at some of our guesses, but cannot say, and I respect that. Job and paycheck > forum. I feel confident though this issue we are seeing with delivered vehicles is one of the reasons vehicles are being held.

Waiting for the Jeep for that week was the worst week of my life. LOL

One main reason why I'll never ever buy a first year production vehicle. Gotta work out the bugs the impatient builders didn't bother to fix yet!!

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

Pick up my srt8 this weekend and drove it 1000 miles back home. Not a single issue at all. Even got 18.7mpg with adaptive cruise control set at 72mph. Setting it to 80 mph gave me 16.0 mpg.
