I am one of the others. However, mine seems to be fine now after Mark Jorgensen (runs the Motorsports division at Woodhouse) took it for a short ride last Saturday and did several tight turns in each direction. I have not swapped out the Transfer Case fluid at this point.

On a side note, Woodhouse is a top notch dealership from both a sales and service perspective. I feel fortunate to be working with them to get this straightened out.

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

That's because of the thorough QC job they do. Mine has been in QC for a full month as of yesterday. I hope they at least brought it a cake to celebrate it. Now that the motor oil and transfer case fluid issues have been resolved hopefully my GC will finally graduate out of QC this week.

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

Well it's been reported some units got the wrong oil in them also? Contaminated TC fluid could be (the wrong weight/viscosity) was used like the wrong oil situation.

It seems the break-in is important asap... first thing I'm doing is doing what the mechanic did for the other poster 10 RT/LFT turns in a circle to loosen the system up, then I'm doing it in reverse also, just to make sure, BEFORE I sign the paperwork!

CHY/Dodge CORP major weakness is communication, to all of us and the dealerships, unfortunately some things will NEVER change.

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

i see people keep harping on the TC issue. i can say i have really pushed this car hard in the past few days with absolutely no problem at all (straight line acceleration, hard turns, autostick with console shifter, tight turns in the parking lot here at work.) i do have a paddle shifter issue but it appears to be a simple fix for face value but i will know definitely tom. 7 am est.

We're harping on it because it's true. You are in the minority. Of all of the units delivered that I have read about online, about 80% or more have had the problem.

SRT Engineers are recommending those with this problem to drain the Transfer Case Fluid and refill, then drive for a few minutes, then drain and refill again. I'll be getting this procedure done on mine on Friday since I initially had the problem. I'll also be changing the oil for the first time. I'll have about 1000 miles and I'll be using Mobil1 0W-40.

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

I keep hearing everyone talk about contaminated TC fluid and talk about it as if it was the wrong fluid. Does anyone know if it truly was contaminated (if so by what?) or if it was just the wrong type of fluid?

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

I assume it is water in the fluid but I haven't heard that confirmed yet.

Scott, what source did you get that from? Respectfully I say this, but I think that would be far from accurate...
