It was just in the news this Tuesday: http://news.consumerreports.org/cars...ion-leads.html

"While Fordís star has fallen, Chryslerís has risen. Jeep has moved up seven spots to 13, becoming the most reliable domestic brand, and all its models for which Consumer Reports has sufficient data scored average in predicted reliability. Chrysler and Dodge moved up 12 and three spots in ranking, respectively."

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

I am picking up my SRT8 on November 5. I am a newb when it comes to buying a high performance vehicle like this.....my last car was a Honda Accord Hybrid <--- don't hate .....Can anyone recommend what paces I should put the car through before I sign on the dotted line especially regarding the potential first problems. Thanks in advance.

Boychiks said his VA area dealer called him and said:

all built units are "on hold for 2-3 weeks". Looking at Thanksgiving.

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

SRT8/BMW, I believe the first one to take delivery on either forum, thought he was in the clear, unfortunately his popped up today after 1,000 miles and his dealer had some added info

Quote:
You may recall I heard the same noise when i first brought it home and did a tight slow turn into garage-- but after two or three times, it went away. Well, yesterday- it was acting very strange and loud (lurchy, thumpy sounding in the rear) in stop and go traffic. At home, smelled "gear oil" smell, and saw it was slowly dripping.

Local dealer for me is close to headquarters (not where I purchased vehicle btw) and they say they have seen 10-12 with this issue, (some obviously corporate cars)and the level of damage on each varies. Could be a simple flush and fill or could be damaged clutch paks and rebuild- and parts may be in demand so hard to come by. May take a while depending what they find tomorrow.

Needless to say-- very very disappointed. will keep you posted

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

Update on my srt8 issues:
truck went into local dealer last thursday for non-working paddle shifters. the dash and console were taken apart with help of a chryco engineer. after all connections appeared intact the dash and console were put back together and car was given back to me with a airbag light on (btw paddle shifters still were not working). i then called again friday and they told me to bring the car back tuesday. so i dropped car of yesterday and kept calling through out the day to find out what the problem is and progress. little if non were make except they are confident the problem is entirely software related. Day 3 today!

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

Any updates on any of the above issues being resolved?

Or any new problems appearing on the new SRT8s?

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

There is an RRT in the system that addresses a very small number of SRT's that have some mosture in the T-Case. The symtom is a grinding noise when turing in a very tight circle. This is corrected with an oil change of the t-case.

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

Dealer is WRONG. Have them check for the RRT on the T-case issued in December. It's a simple oil change procedure.

Re: Potential first problems with New SRT8s...

Dropped the truck off this morning for this and already have it back with no noises anymore. Quick and easy fix that's under warranty.
