Potential WK2 SRT8 problem!?

The jeep started up but then seconds later just shut off. When you go to start it back up it just cranks and cranks . You hit the start button again it will stop cranking, then you do try and start it again and it starts?? No cel nothing. The key fob was next to wallet in my pocket which has a magnet in it ( could that be causing any issues ??)

Re: Potential WK2 SRT8 problem!?

Smell gas? I had the same symptoms and my fuel line popped off. The factory had not secured it properly.

The wallet/magnet thing would not be the cause.

Re: Potential WK2 SRT8 problem!?

Gas is @ 1/4 tank remaining, and the jeep runs fine after you start it thrle 2nd time ( at which point it stays and runs fine )

Re: Potential WK2 SRT8 problem!?

If an invalid key is used to start the Jeep it will crank over and then shut off. Try using your key away from the aforementioned magnet. Try using your other key as well and see if there is a difference. Simple troubleshooting steps to start with. Or just go to the dealer, it's on warranty

Re: Potential WK2 SRT8 problem!?

It almost seems as if the jeep is not recognizing the fuel pump and giving it fuel to start. Scheduled an appt. For Wednesday so I guess we'll see

Re: Potential WK2 SRT8 problem!?

It's really sounding like a fuel pump problem maybe low pressure or something ... It will literally crank and start and run for 2 seconds then shut off ( as if it was using the fuel in the line and that's it ) the dealer said they could not find anything and said drive it till it happens again or they come out with some sort of tsb / recall .

Re: Potential WK2 SRT8 problem!?

It is the KEY! My brother has been starting it with the key in the ignition and it works fine. I told him just for the hell of it to put the push button back in and try starting it with the key in his pocket. Sure enough it didn't start (actually 3 times in a row then it finally came on!) So he will be talking to dealer tomorrow i believe to see what they have to do.

Re: Potential WK2 SRT8 problem!?

Update: The dealer ordered a transponder since the jeep starts fine every time when you actually put the key fob in! It would fail to start when you just did the push button so hopefully this resolves the issue and this can be documented :P
