Power Shade Fail!?

Anyone experience a broken power shade in their WK2?

Driving home yesterday on the highway and opened the power shade. I hear 'Snap/pop' and the whole thing falls into the car blocking my rear view. I tuck in back up the best I can to get home.

Upon inspection, I see the left trolley is stuck in the rearward position and came off the track or rail and no longer moves. the front shade rod popped out of the trolleys causing it to hang. The shade ripped where it was attached to the left trolley. I did manage to re-engage the left trolley on the track, bu the shade will not close completely (open about 2") and it sags into the car as it is no longer tight because it is not 'zipped' into the side rails as per design, and the front attachment point is ripped.

I don't see much info on this online. Warranty expired last month (of course). Headed to dealer, and expect to hear 'gee- never saw this problem before...please give us $xxxx and we will fix'. damn.

Hate to sound like a dealer, but "gee, never heard of that before". Seriously, that's the first I've heard of such a failure. Hope they take care of you.

If you're in need of further assistance after visiting the dealer, let me know. Thanks! - Kevin T, Social Connect Team

Re: Power Shade Fail!?

Great to see you on the forum here Kevin. I've seen your counterparts (DodgeCares) on Dodgetalk and Chargerforums.

OP, just in case you haven't seen them on any other forums, they actually do care. Mopar really does pay attention to what we say, and the reps they have on the forums are very helpful.

Re: Power Shade Fail!?

I took to dealer yesterday and they do not have any experience with this problem (no surprise). They say they have to tear down tho whole thing and trouble shoot before they can tell me what is wrong and what needs to be replaced. No appt. avail. to do so until 7/12.

Re: Power Shade Fail!?

? By any chance had the OP had the recall repair done for the passenger mirror trying to barbecue the interior?
