I had 3/4 of a tank and decided to top off the tank while I was at the store. The Jeep refused the gas and acted as if it were full. I got back in, fired her up and the gauge was still at 3/4 of a tank. Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon?
also, it was a scorcher today for us and I see for you too...was it parked in the heat for a while? maybe that got the gas nice and vapored up and maybe that was enough to trip the nozzle shutoff???
I don't think its time for the gas mix cutover, but it happened to me this past weekend.
Same station, same nozzle, same bat-channel, I always use. Hotter'n crap, but no more so than prior instances. Tried tilting it up, tilting it down, pulling it out slightly, cutting down flow rate, describing its parents and offspring, but just kept clicking off when I knew damn well it wasn't full. After about 10 gallons it settled down, dunno if it was just too hot fuel going into too hot tank or it just wanted to tick me off.
Aftermarket exhaust? I had this problem on 2 different Shelby GT500s. The tank vent line melted and collapsed and it wouldn't let me pump at full speed. I had to flip the nozzle upside down or replace that vent line and protect it from the exhaust better
I've had that same thing happen on my Jeep and my old Charger. I think it has to do with those vapor cutoff shields that are required at gas stations now. If you get one that's extra sensitive, it kicks off. Usually I can make it work by rotating the nozzle to 3 or 9 o'clock and slowing the flow.
