Re: Squeeky brakes?

Beezy,

I moved to Austria 4 months ago with my family. We brought our 2014 Jeep SRT with us and I just started noticing the squeaky brakes.

Currently I'm in contact with the Jeep International help desk to see if my warranty carries over to Europe from the U.S., but I'm not holding my breath. It seems that nobody knows the answer or how to get it.

I will be highly disappointed if Jeep does not step up to the plate.

Maybe a private message to Ralph Gilles would help fan the flames...

I'll let you know if I have any luck getting mine replaced.

Mike

Re: Squeeky brakes?

I have squeaky breaks too, owned for 11 months with 10k miles. Although started much earlier around 5k. Dealer told me I actually need to replace breaks outside of warranty. Makes no sense to happen this early, right? Actually heading to dealer now for unrelated issue.

Re: Squeeky brakes?

Had the same issue with my 2014 SRT and dealership told me they didnt hear any squeaks from my brakes. Customer service guy didnt even want to look at the tsb I brought with me. Told me thats the first thing that the mechanics allegedly look at it.

Re: Squeeky brakes?

If they read the TSB it clearly states intermitten. I really don't understand the problem as they get reimbursed. Mine was replaced by my dealer and they did not hear the squeak. You may want to try another dealer and you can always call the SRT hotline but they were absolutely worthless for me. Good luck.

Re: Squeeky brakes?

My dealer so far has said no because outside of the 12mo/12k miles. Not my damn fault the last owner didn't care.

Dealer is incorrect if you are within the 36/36 warranty period.

I took a copy of the TSB to the dealer, he replaced the rotors without fuss, even though they weren't squelaing at the time. Mine is a '14 well past 12mo/12Kmi. No mileage is mentioned in the TSB. Rotors should be replaced at no charge during the 36/36 warranty.

Try another dealer or get Jeep involved.

Hmm... I did call SRT hotline after they gave me that answer, and they confirmed that there was no obligation since it was outside the 12/12 for the brakes and no warranty extension had been placed by Jeep as a result of the TSB. SRT said the dealer could still replace though. Are you positive it should be covered under the 3/36? One of the service members said a TSB only gives guidance on how to fix an issue, and that it doesn't act as a recall.

BS in my opinion. 12/12 shouldn't matter if the parts have been replaced under a bulletin because they cause the freaking problem and I'm within standard warranty.

Mine were, no grief at all from dealer. '14 SRT first sold Dec 2013 (early build), over 12k mi. Dealer who repaired was not the dealer I bought the vehicle from, so I doubt if the "good will" replacement applied.

Re: Squeeky brakes?

I called another very reputable, highly rated dealer in my area. He took all my info and plugged it into the computer. When he did, the system kicked back "no longer covered" due to outside the 12mo/12k. TSB or no TSB, it's brake related and the warranty for that is what it is.

Re: Squeeky brakes?

The problem with TSB's is they aren't recalls. A lot of people think a TSB and a recall are the same thing and they aren't. There's still some dealer discretion involved with TSB's. If your dealer wants to be a hard ass and doesn't think there's enough reason to perform the repairs, they don't have to.
