SRT down!! :(

Wife was side swiped. POS 1990 accord crossed the double yellow opposite direction. Ripped the left rear wheel right out of the differential. Driver side curtain airbags deployed. Doors are messed up but still open/close. Rear gate is fine. I think the frame is fine. It's at a body shop I trust and still being evaluated for repair or not.

Other car was NOT insured. Driver didn't own said car. Still ascertaining her insurance.

Wife is okay. Bumped and bruised a little. Some burn on left arm from the airbag deployment.

Re: SRT down!! :(

That certainly sucks. Glad your wife's relatively okay. The Jeep can either be fixed or replaced... it did what it was supposed to do in a crash.

Holy $#!#... Glad to hear everyone is ok. First thing I would do is hire a lawyer that specializes in these types of cases and ascertain the other driver's assets. Do not trust your insurance company to handle this in your best interest, especially if the other driver is uninsured which is very likely at this point. There is a good chance you will need to go after her yourself especially when it comes to medical bills.

This really stinks, glad the wife is ok. A previous Corvette I owned was hit by an uninsured driver. I was the 2nd car through a light making a right hand turn. An early 80's POS mustang ran the red light and hit my front drivers wheel. Almost took the front end of the car off. My insurance company "attempted" to fix it. Could never get it right and ended up totaling the car. It took months and I would never wish this on anyone. The icing on the cake was when Allstate sued them for the money and they declared bankruptcy. Months later I ended up working with the guy's sister and she harassed me about trying to charge to much to fix my car... Needless to say, I can't stand uninsured drivers and religiously have uninsured motorist insurance. Pieces of crap...

Glad everybody is okay.

Hope they total it.

If they do...buy it back and fix it.

There's an old saying... "You can't squeeze blood out of a turnip."

In other words, if they have nothing you're likely to get nothing out of them.

That's why having uninsured motorist coverage is important. And even then you'll likely never be made whole on your loss.

And the uninsured motorist will continue driving...

Glad the wife is ok, but man, that blows. I cant stand bums driving without insurance. The states should get tougher on non-insured drivers, but it wont happen. Having nothing to lose basically gives you a license to steal.
