So if a dealer is using something other than Pennzoil as a brand of oil and they are doing the changes and it's documented "warranty reference" that should clarify it does not matter which brand you use...as long as it's 0-40 synthetic.

After my 4 are used up I'm doing it myself screw the $100-200.00 oil changes that's rediculus.

By the way the royal purple is good oil, my 392 runs like a sewing machine smooth, quiet, refined as it should.

392 and 6.4 are the same fyi.

Re: Ughhhh....first oil change! $171?

I dropped my WK2SRT8 in today for a checkover and 500m (800km) oil change (and to get a flare reattached and warped bumper looked at).

After confirming they had the SRT recommended oil before I dropped it off - when I picked the car up I found they had used a Castrol Edge 0W 40 product which of course they assured me was okay. I have done a fair bit of searching trying to find the ppm moly rating for this oil but cannot find it - does anyone know if this oil has a similar build quality to the Pennzoil or Mobil products recommended?

I have attached the data sheet I could find for the oil and perhaps I simply dont know how to read it? Doesnt seem to mention moly though.

And to make all you guys in the States feel better - my oil change was $170 for the oil - which is only a bit more than a store charges for the oil - then $100 for labour, then filter etc - taking it over $300 - so $171 sounds prtty good to me Scott!

Re: Ughhhh....first oil change! $171?

WOW thats crazy Criswell Jeep in Gaithersburg MD charged me $69.99 for oil and filter change. I did confrim that are using 0w-40 Penzoil. For my earlier issues with my jeep SRT gave 8 free oil changes so I did not have to pay that. But $171 is insane my Corvette Z06 took 10.5 quarts of oil and I paid $124.

Every 6k miles.

P.S. Just got my 2014 at Criswell, very good experience and they have access to a lot of SRTs. They are still getting dealer inventory deliveries.

Re: Ughhhh....first oil change! $171?

For my 2014 will any 0W40 oil do or should I get a specific one? I always went with the Mobile 1 0w40 on all my other SRT Jeeps. thoughts? Also anyone have the mopar part number for the oil filter for 2014?

The Mopar part number for the oil filter is 4884899AB and the Mopar part number for the Pennzoil Ultra SAE 0W-40 full synthetic motor oil is 68171066PA. This is the recommended oil for the SRT.
