Ughhhh....first oil change! $171?

I had my own K&N filter....and they tried to charge me $17 per quart for the Pennzoil 0w-40! WOW...talk about highway robbery! I thought I'd try a dealer with SRT experience as my local Jeep dealer had never done any work on a 2012+ Jeep SRT! Mistake! My local dealer only wants $10 per quart! Lesson learned

You can shear a sheep over and over, but you can only slaughter it once.

You might want to email that to the sevice manager

Re: Ughhhh....first oil change! $171?

WOW, I guess I'm lucky, in the SE region they give you the first 4 oil changes for free as part of the purchase package. They make money on all the cars they can service from the 55 gallon oil drum then loose it on us SRT owners

I'm on change #2, after #4 I'll be doing my own but even then it's still an $80 exercise unless the price of the SRT oil comes down between now and then.

Re: Ughhhh....first oil change! $171?

I always bought the Mobil One special, 5 quarts and filter for $32.99 at Autozone. Took that to the dealer and paid $8.50 for labor.

Re: Ughhhh....first oil change! $171?

its usually us diesel jeep owners that get raped by the dealer for an oil change, guess they want to expand to other jeeps.

Lol why not? The 6.4 isn't that much different than a 6.1. I've had several SRT8's from stock to a 426, logged over 100k miles of hard driving and never had one issue using Mobil1. Mobli One was used until mid year 2010. Do you know why Mopar switched? The switch happened when Fiat took control of Chrysler. Fiat owns Ferrari, and Ferrari has an agreement with Shell/Pennzoil so Chrysler could no longer endorse Mobil1. Both 6.1 and 6.4 engines*were engineered to operate with 0W-40 oil so the dealership needs a quality oil to service SRT8 vehicles, in reality Pennzoil is playing catch up to Mobil1 with this viscosity. Its all about money. When released in early 2010 the 5qt jug was only $28. Can't figure out why they'd charge that much. I'd run!

Engineers still recommend Pennzoil OR Mobile 1, as long as it's 0w-40.
