Week old '14 WK2 SRT 900rpm idle.

So I have had my WK2 SRT for a little over a week now and have 900 miles on it. I noticed a day after getting it that the idle was rather high and rough (900rpm). At first I thought it might be part of the break in but it has continued to remain that way. Once in a while, it drops down to 650rpm for a few seconds then shoots right back up again. There is a noticeable vibration in the dash and it's rather loud when parked. When it ever goes down to 650rpm, it's whisper quiet and you can hardly feel the engine running. I made a service appointment for Tuesday but want to know if anyone has some insight on this situation.

Other than at idle, have you noticed any other performance inconsistencies (eg. normal/hard acceleration). Also when you are idling, does this only have while you are in/out of gear or both?

There is no noticeable performance hit. The vehicle runs great! The high idle is noticeable when the car is stopped in park, in neutral and in drive.

Re: Week old '14 WK2 SRT 900rpm idle.

Since no one else was chiming in and my dealer could only give me an appointment a week after I reported my "problem" I called the SRT hotline to get some information. According to the SRT rep., the GC SRT has a variable idle that can range anywhere from 500rpm to 1000rpm. The engine regulates this depending on fuel and air demands of the engine so at different times, the idle could vary.
I'm used to having my vehicle idle at a set point, seeing mine run at 900rpm at times and then 650rpm at other times is weird to me but I will take the word of the rep. since I have no other source of information to go on at the moment.

Re: Week old '14 WK2 SRT 900rpm idle.

I had an SRT owner on Instagram contact me who is having the same idle variations as you. I watched mine while driving a short distance yesterday and at stop lights etc. it idled right around 650-700 range each time. Now that was strictly small town driving. Ill be watching it the next week or so.

Great, I'll be looking forward to hearing about your observations and hopefully that of others. I would rather not take it to the dealer to look over what might be normal operation of the vehicle.
