Center Console Do-Over!

I wonder if anyone here has tried to remove the center console bezel and cover it in black Alcantara Suede?

I think I'm gonna give it a shot. I think it would match nicely with the inset section of the leather front seats and it has to be better than the bright silver that's there now!

Re: Center Console Do-Over!

(Eh, went a different route!)

I'm very happy with the look and quality of the Momo shift knob. Its a highly visible area of the car and i felt that it deserved a bit of an upgrade.

I've also been bothered by the stock silver interior trim on the center console and dash. It seemed very strange to me that Jeep went to the trouble of giving us real carbon trim pieces and not finishing the job elsewhere in the high touch areas of the car.

So as you can see below I decided to finish the job myself. The challenge was finding REAL carbon fiber to match the factory pieces. I reached out to the folks at CarID and they were able to hook me up with what I needed for an extra cost on top of the price quoted for the cheesy faux carbon crap they were peddling.

I'm now much happier with the aesthetics of the interior and feel that it looks much better without the harsh contrast of the bright silver trim.

Also and image of the Black Rear Brow I just installed from Just For Jeeps!

I totally agree about the stock silver trim. The carbon fiber looks fantastic and I'm leaning towards it. Did you get the Remin basic kit? You mentioned getting real carbon trim and not faux, did you do something other than select the 'real carbon fiber' option? Did everything fit well? Any problems with adhesion? Does the thickness of the pieces look at all odd next to the stock pieces on the dash? Any problems with the storage compartment door opening? Appreciate the help.

Yeah I choose the RCF option, but they initially sent me back a conformation with the wrong part number (Faux). Just check their work after ordering. The stuff is very sticky. I've only got one very small section that seems to be pulling up a tiny bit on a very difficult corner. I'll use a bit of super glue to tack it down. you might want to sand down the edge on the center console storage door after installation. the fit was pretty tight there on mine. A bit of 2000 grit on the edge cleared it right up.

Re: Center Console Do-Over!

Thanks for the info. I'm wondering how the overhead console kit would look? Can you have too much carbon fiber?
