Chrome Grill Inserts

Sorry if this has been discussed, but couldn't find it anywhere. I am look for instructions on how to pop the chrome rings out of the grill. I love the look of having them blacked out. Also, do you guys suggest I have them painted at a body shop or can I use a particular type of spray paint?

Thanks for the help!
Zach

Re: Chrome Grill Inserts

the 14 rings are different from the 12 hank. But to remove both sets of rings all you need is a set of trim sticks....the plastic ones. I have a set I got on ebay for like $15 from matco. Use painters tape around the grill along the edges of the rings. Insert the thinnest blade trim stick starting in the middle and work towards the top left corner, across the top and half way down the right side. then grab the rings at the top and pull upwards. This is for the 2014's. Reinstall by inserting the bottom first and pushing down into place and then push top in.
For 2012's...use the same method...but you need to release the tabs all around the rings. they just push straight in.

Thanks. I had mine painted and am having a $@&:$/@:@: of a time getting the chrome ones out. I went and got a set of trim sticks and am going to try again this weekend.
