The black grill and vent rings...they're for a 2014-2015 black? Do you know the specific black color they're for? My 2015 is metallic black...
Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm pretty sure the OEM wheels are forged and replicas are cast so definitely not identical.

Re: Chrome Removal - Blacked Out

I REALLY like the way that looks...your beast is bad A$$!! I have a kinda dumb question...I was at the dealer and ordered the rear embedded Jeep logo in PX8 to replace my current chrome one. How does the black plastic plating come out? Is it secured with bolts or push tabs? I know the letters are tapped to the backing, just haven't seen the replacement part so don't know how it connects. Thanks in advance and once again, you have one sweet looking ride!!

Thanks! It's been fun to see the transformation.

The rear badge has two tabs that stick out the back. The only purpose they serve is to assist with alignment when you put it on (you will be glad they are there when you re-apply). The downside is that it makes it a little more difficult to get the badge off because you can't just slide the fishing line all the way across. Once I got a about a third of it loose, I got my fingers behind it and pulled the rest of it off. When you get the replacement, you'll see what I'm talking about with the tabs. Good luck!

Re: Chrome Removal - Blacked Out

Nice job on blacking her out. I have the red vapor edition and yours looks just like it on the exterior except the wheels and window trim.

A+ on the forged versus gravity cast replica warning. I don't know why anyone would drive these heavy jeeps on cheap Chinese cast wheels. Wheels crack all the time. Hopefully nobody gets hurt.

nice corvette in the garage!

Looks familiar... I still have the chrome SRT on the back, the black one is in my garage waiting to be put on this summer

Re: Chrome Removal - Blacked Out

do you have a close up of the window trim? Trying to figure out if I want to just go vinyl or paint. I want it to last is my only thing. Looks killer btw!

Re: Chrome Removal - Blacked Out

vinyl all the way - I went to 3 shops and no one would paint it - for two reasons
1) too hard to get off without damaging
2) worried it would not stick well to the plastic/chrome, even with sanding

I waited a year before going vinyl - it looks like stock shadow trim on any BMW or other car with black window trim - have had mine on almost a year and no damage... just need about 3-4 hours per side to apply it - lots of X-acto blades to make a sharp cut and it has to be warm out to get it to apply well.

Only under/around the mirror is a PITA - so I did apply some touch-up paint in one area (very small a couple millimeters) and you can't tell -

Here's a few close up pics, sorry the quality is bad. It's rained here 7 days straight, so the pics are of my dirty Jeep in the garage - the spots are just from the rain...

Re: Chrome Removal - Blacked Out

hey, I'm wanting to do the vinyl on mine also. Can you PM me a link to the product you used? In your posts you gave what it was but I could not locate it. Also, does the vinyl have an adhesive on one side? Did you prep the trim in any way? Any tips? Thanks, Dallas, TX

Re: Chrome Removal - Blacked Out

Phinam,

When you ordered the front grill rings did they come black? If not what did you use to paint them? I ordered them and they came grey and I'm not sure if I should send them back.

Thank you for your assistance.
