Re: Debadging techniques

How much did Chuck Norris cost? That would be cool.

I couldn't afford Chuck, so I used the cold method right after I got it home. Worked like a charm as you could tell the adhesive didn't have time to set yet.

Re: Debadging techniques

This is how I have done it for years. I have now gone to using a can of compressed air held upside down for cool it first though. My wife's Jeep in the video but I also did my entire SRT8. It works on new and old baked on badges. http://youtu.be/itFuWbjUEjI

Re: Debadging techniques

So Ive been wanting to debadge my GC since I got it, just haven't gotten around too it. Until i stumbled upon this ancient thread this morning I had never heard of the cold technique for debadging. So I gave it a try took about 20 min to do both doors and the hood. The key was making sure the badges were cold enough but mother nature helped out with that.IMG_8175.jpg I figured Id leave the tailgate badges for a minute or two. it worked great, just a random junk cardIMG_8182.jpg IMG_8183.jpgand some citrus degreaser and a microfiber towel. end result looks so much cleaner then stock(to me at least).IMG_8185.jpg thanks for the tips guys. Cheers!(this is the first mod I've ever done that didn't require beer)

Re: Debadging techniques

My process was hell... did it in the garage, used a heat gun and fishing line to remove the letters. Still had a bit of gunk and lots of hard to see, fine residue. Tried goo-gone w/ microfiber and shop towels... nothing was getting that crap off. I had to scrape for a solid 20 minutes with my finger nails and an old ID card, lubing the surface as best I could to prevent damage to the paint. The Jeep logo on the front was the worst - can still see where it says Jeep in just the right lighting. I plan on having the exterior detailed in those spots to hopefully fix it.
