If I recall, it is for taking your vehicle out of "park" when the engine won't run/start. Allowing a tow truck/wrecker to tow/haul you.

Thumb through your owners manual and it will give you all the details.

Check the manual:

MANUAL PARK RELEASE

In order to move the vehicle in cases where the transmission
will not shift out of PARK (such as a dead battery),
a Manual Park Release is available

As above. Had to use it when dyno tuning and PCM locked the car in gear lol

This may be a 4wd item as I suspect it connects into the transfer case.

It's usually covered, not like the pic above with the cover removed.


As far as I know, it's to disengage park, so I would guess the RWD models have it too?
