Headlight Washers and Other Stuff???

Hi to everyone,

I am a new owner of a 2014 SRT Jeep and had some questions for all the experts on the forum.

One of the issues I am having is with the headlight washers. I did contact Milous and he gave me some info, so I did a little messing around. At first when I tried to get the washers to work, all I got was a very loud noise with no washers extending or water spray. I found the hose connector on the passenger side and removed it and reinstalled. I was then able to get the washers to work, but only when they want to work. Sometimes I can get them to work when I first power up the start button, and then press the washer button once, however that is all I get, ONCE...

Does anyone have any ideas as to how to get the system to work normally? I can't believe you can't get the washers to come on when you want them to come on. I do have an appointment on Friday so will see how that goes.

Another issue, which hasn't happened in a week, was when I turned on the A/C, hot air would come blasting out of the vents no matter how low I set the temperature. However if I went to MAX A/C, then the A/C worked fine. I turned off the vehicle and restarted and it was ok, but it did happen 5 or 6 times. Has anyone else had that issue?

Finally, I need to buy a radar detector mount for my Escort 9500ix, and the mount I used on my Boss 302 does not work in the Jeep. I found a company called Blendmount, but I don't see spending almost $100 on a radar detector mount. Does anyone know of any other companies making the mounts that aren't made out of blocks of gold and painted matte black?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Howie

The headlight washers only fire every 3-4 times you use the windshield wiper sprayers. They also only come on when the headlights are on.

Re: Headlight Washers and Other Stuff???

for the AC issue...could just be warm air caught in the system. Do you have it set to recirculate or pullin from outside....cause when you switch to Max ac...it switches to recirculate automatically

Angry Re: Headlight Washers and Other Stuff???

I usually have it to recirculate. However it didn't matter what I did, the hot air just kept on coming. It only went away when I went to Max A/C. I have an appointment at the dealership on Friday so will see how it goes.

On the headlamp washers-I can sometimes get them to wash when I first turn on the ignition switch, and then push the wiper wash button. However after that it doesn't matter what configuration the lights, wipers or anything else is in, and if there is or is not water present-they don't work.

They didn't work at all in the beginning, but made a loud noise as if there wee gears just being torn apart. What that was however is the system trying to pressurize, but there wasn't anything there to pressurize. Once I removed a washer line on the passenger headlamp washer, I was then able to get them to work, however very intermittently. That will be addressed at the appointment as well.

On another note-how many SRT owners have a spare tire that is far too small for the vehicle, and won't even fit due to the huge Brembo calipers? My spare is a Kuhmo 275 65R18 tire, but in all actuality it is just a huge weight that is worth about shit.

I have already sent an e-mail to Jeep Corporate and am going to raise just a tad bit of hell because it seems somebody in their infinite wisdom didn't really think about some important stuff on the SRT.

I could care less if the car comes with Run Flats or not-they won't last forever, and if you happen to be on a road trip in the middle of Wyoming, what the hell is the point of a spare that won't even fit? Yep, I am a bit annoyed and disturbed by someone's lack of thought in these matters. Plus, how can a $73K vehicle have so much go wrong and nobody even notice it?

OK, I'm finished. I was just wondering if anyone had ever brought this up to the powers-that-be at Jeep?

Cheers,

Howster

Re: Headlight Washers and Other Stuff???

Howie,

Alot of your gripes have been voiced before. The spare tire can only be mounted on the rear of the vehicle. Yes this sucks but it is what it is.

I'm sure your AC and headlight washer issue will be fixed. After that I hope you can enjoy the vehicle as much as most of us do. There are some flaws but don't let them over shadow your experience with a great vehicle. Get them fixed and move on!

It does suck, but it is still much better than the WK1 SRT8 which, thanks to its central exhaust, did not have a spare tire and relied entirely on runflat technology to save your bacon. Except I was unable to find winter runflats in the correct size and repair kits don't work with damage to the sidewalls.

Taking the bus in winter is not fun, I'd much rather had kept warm by doing a rear-to-front and spare-to-rear swap
