LED's upper and lower on while driving?

LED strip on the bumper is on all the time while in drive...day or night.....headlights on or off. The led characters in the headlights ONLY come on when the headlights or parking lights are on. This is SRT only!

Scott is correct.

Bumper LED's are on all the time. However, they dim when the headlights are on, so they are not as bright.

The ones surrounding the headlight (AKA Ribbon lights or Halo lights) only come on with either the parker lights or normal headlights.

And in case anyone hasn't noticed yet, the ribbon lights (which are only on in parker light mode or headlight mode) turn off when the indicator is in use, but only the side that has the indicator flashing. The opposite side ribbon light will remain on.

This applies to Aus SRT's. I assume the US & ROW models do the same?

Just did mine! We are almost there. The headlight ribbon DRLs look great. Unfortunately they do not dim with the parking or headlights on.

I need to find a normally closed relay to open the circuit when the parking lights come on. That should make the headlight ribbons dim correctly. The headlight ribbons at full brightness seem like they could blind others at night.

Using the DRL circuit in the fuse box ( F40 ) I energized the Left and Right DRL Lamp. We also placed a diode between the fuse and headlights to prevent back feed of voltage.

Checking out the headlight wiring diagram I found the below:
Driver's side parking light wire: White with Brown stripe--> turns on parking light and low ribbon LED intensity
Driver's side DRL Lamp wire: White with Yellow stripe (pin 3) --> Lights headlight ribbon to max intensity

Passenger's side parking light wire: White with Orange stripe-->turns on parking light and low ribbon LED intensity
Passenger's side DRL Lamp wire: White with Dark Blue stripe (pin 3)-->Lights headlight ribbon to max intensity

I will keep them wired up like this for now until i find a way for them to automatically dim.

Nice! Why on earth would you want them to dim? As far as the ribbon (around the headlights), I'm getting tired of them already. Everybody and his grandma has them now. I'd be happy to deactivate them completely.

I'm guessing them don't serve any other function except to wannabe an Audi?

They are way to bright at full intensity to run at night. It almost seemed like I had my high beams on during testing.

I'm sure you can deactivate your DRL lights in the uconnect settings menu if that's what you want...

I think your last question was rhetorical but they are just a better looking DRL than the normal dim halogen look
