Remove/Replace WK2 SRT Headlights - Bumper Removal?

Hey guys, I am considering buying the export headlamps without the orange reflectors but I am trying to get an idea of what's involved in the swap procedure.

Do you have to pull the front bumper to swap the headlight housings?

Is there a procedure anywhere or am I going to need to track down a factory service manual?

Thanks in advance!

Before you buy the export headlamps...i must warn you that you may not be able to program them to work with your jeep. I have had my headlamps replaced and they had to replace both becauee they changed the headlmaps sometime. The headlamps are specific to each model and each electrical system. By saying that...i.would do some research to make sure you dont lose some function/s because of incompatibility.

So what governs the compatibility, the model year? I would buy SRT AFS LHD export lamps, so technically everything should be nearly identical. Also, aren't all the electrical modules on the light removable and therefore I could swap my current electronics to the export plastic housing? I would think that would eliminate any electrical issues.

The only thing I guess I was concerned with was the amber lights themselves, since the export lights don't have these, I worried it might through a "bulb out" error message (this is common in Audi's and has to be coded out with a special interface). However, on the Jeep, the orange markers seem to be a few surface mount LED's so it's unlikely they would program in the bulb out message since these LED's should last the life of the vehicle.

Just not sure how to check compatibility for sure without just buying them and seeing if I can get them to work.

Just not sure. Early SRT 2014 lamps arent compatible with later lamps. So no idea about exports. Find left hand drive export lamps and give it a try is the best i can tell you. You will have to pay to have a dealer try to .program them and align the lamps. But remember other countries have different laws about lamps and how they align or orient to oncoming drivers. Not sure if all lamps are made the same or can be programmed is all im saying. You might lose functions...like adaptive lamps or auto lamps for instance.

Re: Remove/Replace WK2 SRT Headlights - Bumper Removal?

I don't think the part numbers I have are for early 2014 but admittedly it's not easy to tell...the Mopar parts system indicates they are compatible with 2015 model though.

Think I am going to go ahead and buy them and give it a shot...worst case I sell them on eBay and recover most of the money spent.
