Re: Seat belt chime disable - WK2 SRT8

I've tried all the different ways mentioned on our 2014 SRT but it still chimes. I like to start the engine and then buckle up. At least this chime is quieter & less annoying than the Trailblazer SS was. It had a volume setting but even low was loud.

Re: Seat belt chime disable - WK2 SRT8

Slightly off topic, but in the state of KS, the driver will get the $$ ticket for each passenger not wearing a seat belt. I believe there are also manslaughter laws covering the death of a passenger not wearing a seat belt. Chime or no chime, my passengers are wearing the belt or they walk.

Now I would like to remove the chime when I get in and start the car unless it detect that I have started driving without a belt.

In the Northern Territory, Australia, if you're over 16 you're responsible for your own seatbelt. I rarely give a seatbelt ticket to someone over 16. If they don't want to wear a seatbelt, fine; they only put themselves at risk (although it can make the body hard to find in the scrub when you're thrown out in a rollover, which is a PITA). The driver is responsible for passengers under 16 and that one I do enforce. Buckle your kids up, people.

It's nice to not have the chime going when I'm offroad, so thanks again for this info.

Re: Seat belt chime disable - WK2 SRT8

I hate in threads like this, when someone asks a question or makes a statement that might be against whatever state motor vehicle operation law, people gotta come in reminding them they are breaking the law and that they should follow it. Just about everyone on this forum is 18+ and can think for themselves. And I dont think they need you to tell them to follow it. If you can help them, answer the question, if not, just move along. No need to start this stupid bickering you see in these threads.

If he/she doesnt want to wear the belt, let them. Its their decision to take that chance. All they are asking is how to turn off the chime, not asking your opinion of the damn law. I think they know it exists.

Exactly!! Plus the majority of motor laws don't apply outside of public roads....
