Having painted my chrome trim on the front end, even having scuffed and etched the chrome, I am experiencing stone chips already.
I'm curious if anyone has tried ordering the 2015 Vapor trim to just replace the chrome crap on your 2014 yet? A factory finish would be far superior... I just want to know if anyone has tried this yet, or possibly has part numbers...?
I want the red vapor trims as well. When is the red vapor due out ? Once someone can get a vin off one, we should be able to figure out the part numbers.
Got the upper rings from an online dealer I have used for years, took less than a week from order to door step.. Bottom rings are still on back order I believe...
They are nice, but not 225.00 nice. I'm going to try some black gloss carbon fiber vinyl wrap on mine and see if I like the contrast/look. If not, I'll paint them.
Thank you....I tried what I read and scratched my paint...they do not pop off. I have new black ones coming from JEEP...but I guess I suck. I never could get one off.....working around the rim didn't help.
Swap chrome on grille rings & front with 2015 Vapor trim?
I used painters tape around the entire edges X2 ( two layers) then actually used just a butter knife. First one took a while, but once I figured out exact technique, I could get one out In 15-20 secs.
The pics in that how to thread are the correct placement, I just found that I needed to insert the tool (butter knife) further in. Actually I was getting it beyond the ring edge. A little twist and they just come out. Work your way around the edge. For me, bottom left and work ur way up to top, then Bottom right and same thing. The whole bottom pops out, then grab the entire thing and pull out and down.
If you were close to me I could do it for you. Maybe someone else can assist you.

I didn't have any tape to protect, so instead of a butter knife, I used a mixing spatula and it worked like a charm. The middle one was a right MFer though, ended up destroying the spatula but the whole job start to finished took a bit less than 30 minutes, including waiting for the lift in my building .
Only damage was to one of my fingers, which is acceptable and encouraged.
Push the tool in and beyond the back part of the grill ring. Small amount of twist and the back tab should release. Work your way up the sides. Then pull the entire ring down and out. I was fairly aggressive and didn't have any damage. Painters tape is your friend.
Thank you. I will be careful. I ordered the gloss black rings, so I really don't care if these get broken/cracked. I just don't want to harm the paint, so I will use the blue tape around the edges I plan to pry.
Thank you.
