If I was putting down 1/4 mile times at the track I'd be worried! My VMB5's will be here tomorrow and Lexani LX20's will be here next week...So excite (borat accent)

This is a strictly cosmetic upgrade for me and I fully expect a performance hit but I didn't buy a hemi powered truck for the fuel economy anyway.

My previous vehicle was an X5 with run flat 305's on the front and 315's rear...heavy setup but excellent traction (dry pavement of course) and a badass look. Hoping 22" Velgens wrapped in 305 Lexanis will bring me equal pleasure!

Thumbs up Re: velgen vmb5?

Just had these installed . Wanted to do something different so I had them powder coated bronze. Very happy with the outcome, I like the contrast between black truck and bronze wheels.
Let me know what you guys think.

I'm running Vreds 305/35/22. I had been looking for a set of Pirellis or Vreds for a few months. Pirellis are out of stock. I lucked out and found a set on eBay at a very good price. My advice is check eBay daily.

Re: velgen vmb5?

The only thing I can't stand about these Velgens is the factory coating is like eggshell and flakes off around the lugs if you look at it wrong. All 4 of my wheels have chipped coating around the lugs and I am super careful with a torque wrench and the proper sockets. I had them balanced at a local shop who deals in $$$ custom painted wheels and they managed to add a few more cracks/chips and they were being super careful as well. At this point I am about ready to have them stripped and re-powder coated, which is a shame as they aren't even a year old yet. I almost think raw Al with a few layers of a shadow clear or something would be a heck of a lot stronger. Not sure if I got a bad batch or this is just the nature of the coating on these particular wheels. Other than that issue, I still get a lot of positive feedback on them. FWIW, I didn't even bother contacting Velgen as the warranty is pretty clear that chips and finish damage isn't covered.

Has anyone else noticed this? Mine are the matte gunmetal fwiw.
