Re: Whispbar roof rack pics on 2015 SRT

What does the roof look like with the rails off but the mounts still installed?

If u take them off it should look the same as it came out of the factory.

Re: Whispbar roof rack pics on 2015 SRT

Haven't taken the plastic covers off, as there is no need to, but if you do, you will have exposed threaded holes, or if you install the screws back, just a bunch if black screws on your roof. Not sure if the fit kit would work if you don't have the srt covers or rails on, as the new double ended screws for the crossbars are quite long. They would have to be cut a small amount.

Easy enough for you go out and remove and check for yourself.

Re: Whispbar roof rack pics on 2015 SRT

So I ended up purchasing this kit for my SUPs and should have it by the beginning of next week. Will have a mod done prior to install but will get some picks done before/after.

Yo!

I will take responsibility for all you SRT owners who swapped to "bright rails" to run cross bars... this is pretty legit (running whispbars on OEM 'non-functional'/decorative rails) - however you don't have the ability to run the cross bar at specific locations (must run at predetermined bolt holes) but nonetheless very clean.

By the way, that is the sickest Thule box I have seen. What model is that? Is it a "Thule Atlantis" ?

All good Tuned8e…we learn from trial and error.

This box is the Thule Atlantis 1800…about 5-6 years old now….I liked as its faux carbon fibre design, and have never seen another one like it, but looks great IMO.

Re: Whispbar roof rack pics on 2015 SRT

Hi All,
Fantastic information, and thank you.

I bought a 2015 JGC Altitude this weekend and never thought putting a rack system on a Jeep could be this difficult!.
My assumption of course is that the black plastic rails on the Altitude are the same as the SRT. I will be ordering this rack. I really like the flush mount. Why doesn't this show up on any web searches? People have been trying to get around this problem for years ... And there is a good option.

New to this board and Jeep (previous Xterra owner), any other surprises I should know about?

queue up some depressing coldplay 'nobody said it was easy...' haha. Nice job on the altitude - you'll want to get some SRT headlights for it now.

The oem will work just fine, if you have 6 screws on each side
