painted, good, but I like it better with the Jeep emblem still on it.
I fail to see what the damn hard on is for people and their aversion to emblems (constant debadging). Personally, it reminds me of shoddy auto body work where the collision shop, or person, failed to put the emblems back on (because of their cost) a car after they rebuilt half of it after getting smashed.
you do not have to defend your choice to me I just see this on all car forums as a "first mod." IMO, it's a fad, just like the whole black wheels thing. (remember when white wheels on white cars was the fad?)
now lets get one of these to Scott in the vendor area and get a bunch made. I MIGHT also need a Mineral grey. and this is NOT SRT8 specific so the market is gigantic.
Yup as stated each their own. Technically I'm debadged and re-badged. I just take the Jeep and Grand Cherokee emblems off. If not it'll be crowded and overkill. Also, looks cleaner like another member said IMO.
I have the rear SRT8, front lower grill SRT, and front quarter panels with the 6.4L HEMI.
And...I can't stand that one piece of chrome, it broke the back end up to much. Majority like 90%+ agree with my choice. I have another one being made already for another forum member.
Looks like I'm resurrecting a super old thread here. I love what you've done here with the HEMI badge on the fender with the shaved 'Grand Cherokee' on the door. I'm planning something similar.
Question / Observation: The unfortunate thing about this badge mounting the location is the crease in the sheet metal, just below where the badge needs to be mounted, is not parallel to the ground. It's hard to tell from the pic but it looks like you sort of split the difference in the way you mounted it. ie, not quite following the contour of the body crease and not quite parallel to the ground. Thoughts? Can you tell us what you did there?
How much is just the chrome piece? I'd like to buy one and mask the chrome Jeep part myself, then have the local paint auto paint shop shoot it with Min. Gray but leave the Jeep showing in chrome.
Mongoose, so far this is the cleanest SRT8 of the new ones that I have seen! I really like what you did on the sides, looks much better without the GC letters. At first when I saw where you put the hemi badges on the side I didn't like it but now I think it looks sick where you put them. Back with no logo and the front with jeep logo off and the SRT logo at the bottom of the bumper look clean! Good job man! Shark fin and your done.
Thank you! Most guys seem to put the 6.4L/392 HEMI badge on the door where the Grand Cherokee was. I chose the fender because it's more of a stock location in my mind. Look at the Charger and Challenger. Their badges are centered height wise and near the rear on the front quarter panel. Because of the limited flats spots on the jeeps quarter panel they are a little higher up. As seen in the pics. Again, thanks for the positive review.
I like a clean look, but with my own personality thrown in to make it more unique.
That's for sure. The SRT has little body chrome, but that piece really stuck out. When I look at an overland there is to much chrome for me. Mirrors, door handles, etc... Seems those owners want more body color as well. Too much chrome is a bad thing IMO.
If I changed the wheels I'd do a 22" rep of the WK2 wheel. I like the wheels already. I have thought about black wheels though. They look black now since its been a few days without a wash and they are covered in brake dust lol. That's a free mod
Hey Mongoose, your modifications look great. I just ordered the same color SRT8 and I would like to swap out the chrome piece in the back as well. I never really understood why they made it that color. It does break up the back too much. Can you elaborate in more detail how you ware able to fill in the JEEP letters and get it smooth enough to be color coated to make the color. ALso where did you get the 6.4 Hemi Emblems for the front side panels and the bigger sized SRT8 emblems for the front grill? Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
For the rear chrome delete I can't say much. I had a custom shop make it. Basically it was ground smooth, filled, sanded, painted, cleared. That's about all I know.
The front SRT badge is the OEM off a Challeneger. Dealer or eBay
Side 6.4L badges are the OEM off a Charger. Dealer or EBay.
