the wk2 SRT wheel seems heavy to me as i tried lifting one and it was extremely heavy don't know how heavy but if some one knows that would be helpful (looked every where couldn't find it) so i am looking for lighter wheels to improve performance and times and these are my two options.
I believe that the stock wheels are around 42lbs. If you're only reason to change them is for a supposed performance gain, your $$ would be better spent elsewhere.
Well, with a factory price of over $1400 PER WHEEL, they aren't exactly cheap.
The 18 x 10 BBS forged 2 piece wheels on my Porsche weigh 22 lbs and only cost $900 each. The 20 x 10 version weighs 25 lbs. but it's close to $1500 per copy.....
I would think our wheels are closer to the 32 lb range. I really don't think the cast OZ's are lighter than the forged SRT wheel. If they are then there must be a reason, perhaps the high weight of the vehicle and some engineer getting silly with an FEA simulation.....
Regardless, 10 lbs / corner on a 5000+ lb vehicle isn't really going to be felt in your butt, in your hands or on the lap times IMHO.
well going to lighter wheels will not improve your performance! It will improve your handling + your acceleration will better than the stock wheels as far as I know.
Don't get lighter wheels with cheaper quality like the ones made in china, Taiwan... and so on.
Get lighter wheels, but something made with quality. Like BBS, RAYS, Yokohama, Enkei and these known brands for their quality. So you can use those wheels effectively just like you are using your stock wheels.
