Airing down tyres will not always overcome the limitations of Auto in extremely heavy sand. I mostly love the car, but the programming was definitely done by inept morons.

Cheers,
Steve

Absolutely mate... no argument there! If one was only permitted one "adjustment" to negotiate sand, tyre deflation would be light years ahead of centre or cross-axle diff locks, height adjustment or tyre change. It's all about footprint...

Cheers,
Steve

I have read the owners manual but what I'm saying is I don't like how it works.

Lets move on.
Action plan:

1. Go make a bazillion dollars, yuan, yen, whatever.

2. Buy Fiat Chrysler

3. Make the engineers design it the way you want it.

... manners class probably out of the question.

You can transfer the call to your phone with one button.

If you figure out how to add arbitrary numbers to a call after you've connected, would appreciate the secret. e.g. you need to enter a passcode for a conference call, etc.

Yeah, I know its probably in the owners manual... but not in anywhere overly obvious.

Re: Can you stop the radio from coming on automatically?

The fact is that the WK2 Jeeps remember some settings and not others.

The Jeep Engineers decided that some configuration changes should return to the default (or previous) setting upon a vehicle restart.

So you'll all have to learn which setting changes stay after a restart & which don't. Then adjust accordingly.

While many would love total control over how these vehicles respond, that is actually unreasonable (IMHO).

Re: Can you stop the radio from coming on automatically?

The mute cancelling is inconvenient, but I suppose it might stop a small amount of super'tards thinking their radio is broken. Whether that's a good basis for Engineering decisions is quite debatable... we'll disagree.

However in my opinion (and I gather also many here in Australia who use these off-road regularly), having the 4WD mode revert is something no argument can justify. If you needed it to get there, you need it to get back. FWIW, a vehicle is most likely to bog as it moves off from stationary, and selecting a locked mode after bogging in will not always see the car magically pop out. As such it could create a dangerous situation if inadvertently forgotten when in an isolated location.

If it was designed to prevent continued use of the locked mode, maybe a warning should have instead been added to the numerous chimes and EVIC messages we can choose to ignore on start-up.

Cheers,
Steve

It might be possible to call those two hackers and see if they would be cheaper than buying FCA.
