Dash cams?

Anybody have success or preference with a certain dash cam? Also any issue getting hard wired? Do it yourself or how much to have installed? I'm looking at the G1W looks to be highly reviewed and great performance considering a $60 price tag. Thx for sharing any experience!

Re: Dash cams?

Wiring yourself is easy to do.
See this thread - Blackvue DR500GW-HD DashCam Install

Or to not actually wire it in, but have it in with the cigarette point see this post - Dash Cams - Down Under

The G1W is a good dash cam, you should be able to get it for cheaper than that. It is cheap, when you touch it, you will notice how cheap it is. But it does give good results.
Make sure you get the capacitor model, that has no battery.

Re: Dash cams?

I run a garmin dashcam 20 in my SRT. I pick my power from the rear view camera. It comes on when the car is on. Turns off 5 min after the car shuts off. Works like a charm.

Re: Dash cams?

I have been running a Blackvue DR500GW-HD for the past 10 months. Have the wire running around the A pillar to the power socket under the UC. Will hardwire is once I get around to it.

Re: Dash cams?

Called bestbuy car install and they said they'd hardware install their cams for 130$. Fyi, only first quote I've received.

Dash-cam frontal view integration for Uconnect screen:

Switch between rear-view and front view cameras on the OE screen.

Re: Dash cams?

That is not to integrate a recording dash cam, that is jut a separate front camera. There are a few systems available that allow that.
