RHR - Voice Control & song names?

So on my 2011 Overland I was able to do a voice command with my ipod to search for a song and then play it. ie. play song "PYT" then it would put that song on and play it. I cannot get this feature to work with my ipod now, from what ive read it seems like you are still able to search by song, artist, etc. I even did the voice training. Can anyone else do this? Maybe im doing it wrong. I just have an ipod video plugged in to the center console UBS port. Any help? Searching for particular songs using the touchscreen sucks ass, I used the VC feature to say what song i wanted to play quite often....

I've somehow accidentally made this work before on the RHR in my '11; I was trying to get it to switch to navigation, and it came up with "Play by playlist, by Genre, by song name, by artist". I nearly wrecked, because I didn't know it could do that, and in five months it had never come up before. I still have no idea how I got that to come up -- and when it did come up, I could never make it actually work, no matter what I said.

The voice response on the RHR sucks. At least it does on mine. I pretty much gave up on it.

I wish Siri would work for music playlists when the iPhone was plugged in... but apparently all iPod controls are off limits to Siri when the RHR takes over.

Re: RHR - Voice Control & song names?

Anyone know how to explain what a synced device is??? I thought the iPod could sync a TOC so it would be synced. WTF>? I cant find shit about the RHR online nor in the manual to tell me what the hell a synced device is.

Re: RHR - Voice Control & song names?

This is a rather annoying issue. I too found the info in the owners manual stating "synced" AUX devices would have this capability. The how and which devices seems to be left as a mystery. Maybe they only tested it with a Zune. This is 2012, right? An iPod seems like the default device with which they'd test functionality. I don't own any other portable music device to test, unfortunately.

This probably deserves a call to the Jeep support line. I'm not sure they'll be helpful, but it's worth a try. I'd be curious to know how anyone in this thread was able to [accidentally] get the voice prompt to specify artist, track name, etc.

Re: RHR - Voice Control & song names?

Just a quick update for everyone here; I talked with my dealership yesterday when I was in buying the splash/rock guards (already noticed a couple small rock chips on the doors), and a few of the guys there swore up and down that they've seen this work. I had three salespeople sitting in my Cherokee in the parking lot for twenty minutes trying to figure it out, but no help.

My salesman is going to call the regional Chrysler product trainer and get info for me. I'll pass it along as soon as I know something useful.

Re: RHR - Voice Control & song names?

It only worked in the 2011 Jeep. My summit worked fine, but not in the SRT8... I want this to work so badly!
