SD Card

Earlier this week I picked up my 2015 SRT. I loaded some music onto a 64 gig SD card (arranged by folders) and figured I was good to go. When I tried to play it from my car, I kept getting the message that said "insert SD card".

--Am I not allowed to use folders?
--Does it have to be formatted with a certain File System? My computer defaulted the card to exFAT. Should I choose NTFS instead?

I pushed the card in far enough so it clicked. Not sure else why it is not reading it. All other devices in my house can read the card just fine. Any ideas? I'm sure its something silly that I'm doing wrong, but I'm stumped at this point.

Re: SD Card

Any chance a 64 gb card is just too large? Mine works fine, but I only use a 32gb. It might be worth a try.

Very well could be.

I'm reformatting to NTFS as recommended on another page I saw. Hopefully that will do the trick in the meantime.

Re: SD Card

Folders are fine, it is how I and many others have them.
Format can be FAT32 or NTFS, not sure about exFAT, but no reason to use it, and my guess as your problem.
64GB is fine, 256GB has been confirmed to work.

Re: SD Card

In case anyone reads this in the future, it was the file system. exFAT does not work in our cars (which was the default formatting for the card in Windows 7). NTFS worked like a charm.

Re: SD Card

I've got a 256GB SD card that works with FAT32. I have not tried NTFS, but I will the next time I update the card.

Re: SD Card

In tests with my 64GB card, I found FAT32 slightly faster to wright to over NTFS.

Re: SD Card

Is there any difference in functionality between using a SD card, iPod, or external HDD?

Re: SD Card

SD card takes up the least space, leaves USB port available for low level charging.
