You are 100% correct.

But on the same subject, for $2K, I'd rather have only 6 high quality speakers and a subwoofer that has better sound quality.

I would bring up your concern with the dealer. Clarity was the part that I was amazed with. If you have a particular song, I'd compare it in another HK system to make sure there isn't a problem. Its a lot easier than upgrading your system.

Re: SRT/Harman Audio - anyone else here unimpressed?

I have an Overland and am super happy with the stereo in that. Assuming this upgraded system in the SRT8 would be even superior to that I couldnt imagine anyone being disappointed with it.

The srt audio is very much superior to the overland imho. Night and day.

Well I know there will always be complainers, but if its really superior and a night and day difference, I dont see how on earth anyone could be complaining about the SRT audio system if IMO the Alpine Audio in the Overland sounds damn good

Re: SRT/Harman Audio - anyone else here unimpressed?

IMHO it sounds very good, better in most respects than the system I had in the Overland BUT if you are looking for the visceral punch that many equate to a good system then this isn't going to satisfy you. Playing a quality CD/DVD or a high sample rate mp3/AAC will bring out the best in this system. Sat radio or FM come though just OK but still as good or better than most other factory systems I've heard. You also need to remember the volume inside the vehicle they need to fill. It's a lot easier to build a system for a 300 than a WK2.

Maybe there is a problem with mine, Or maybe my standards are too high.

I'll have to listen to the system in another SRT8 to get a baseline reference.

Re: SRT/Harman Audio - anyone else here unimpressed?

I was somewhat unimpressed with mine coming from an 11 Dodge Ram Laramie. However, after turning off the surround mode and going to stereo, I can say that I am happy with the sound. I don't think their surround algorithm is dialed in for our Jeeps.

You definitely have a problem then. You need to compare yours to another SRT. SAT radio is still radio and radio suks. I use the hard drive loaded with 320mp3 or CD and it sounds bitchen. My only complaint, I wish it was easyer to adjust the sub.

Re: SRT/Harman Audio - anyone else here unimpressed?

FWIW, I was unimpressed with the WK2 Overland despite Alpine components. The plastic Chryco sub enclosure (photo below) was the biggest culprit, as it flexes with each hit and causes distortion and muffled sound. Anyone know if this same piece exists in the SRT8 HK system, or did they get a solid sub enclosure done?

HK Sub. Similar, but different.
