Re: SRT/Harman Audio - anyone else here unimpressed?

Its more than *just that. A bass upgrade would do the system wonders but then you are drowning out the subpar mids/highs with a higher quality sub....

Its kinda like adding a tons of power upgrades but forgetting to tune the vehicle. Yes, you are increasing the over hp but you could be doing a lot better.

Well, its kind of like the SRT. Do I need 470hp in a SUV? No... BUT I like to know I gave it if I'm feeling froggy. Same thing with my bass. I don't always want it over the top, but I like to know its there...

Re: SRT/Harman Audio - anyone else here unimpressed?

I never even had the chance to even hear the HK 19 speaker system so i can't comment. There are two frames of mind when it comes to car audio, okay, maybe three. SPL (loud), Sound Quality (SQ) and doesn't matter. Preferences usually go from Doesn't matter to SPL to SQ as we get older. Coming from a base 13 speaker Lexus (Pioneer) system which is fantastic, I didn't want to risk it with the Jeep and decided to go with the 9 speaker stock system and use the money saved on a SQ system of my choice. Probably a bit of effort up front but I'll end up with the system I want in the end. For 2k you can do it.

Please note that I'm a power/electronics guy that used to install car audio in my spare time so this direction might not be for everybody.

Re: SRT/Harman Audio - anyone else here unimpressed?

I haven't read the previous posts so if someone mentioned this my bad.

Your speakers may be blown...When I first saw a 2014 at the dealer the moron showing it to me said "Hey check out the audio system yo" and proceeded to put it on max volume. Sounded like dog shit and I'm almost positive he blew the speakers. Think the dealer is going to do the right thing? Nope.

Needless to say I did not go back to that dealer.

Also, for a stock system it sounds great, especially if you use high quality music. I've also noticed the bass output varies wildly based on the song. My aftermarket systems back in the day had bass across the board. The HK system is more choosy. A little more bass would be nice though. Mids and highs are very solid.

Overall I am 30 years old now, not 18. I'd be flat out embarrassed to show up at a stop light bumping my system.

Re: SRT/Harman Audio - anyone else here unimpressed?

100 percent agree. I don't have the Harmon audio upgrade in my 2013 srt, and I can't get over how soft it plays.. I have to put the volume so loud when using the USB or Bluetooth. The radio comes out louder. Annoying.

Re: SRT/Harman Audio - anyone else here unimpressed?

Hello all 1st post! I just picked up a used 2013 over the weekend, and the first thing I noticed was that the sound system was lacking for a $60k+ vehicle. Like other comments it seems like the quality various wildly from song to song, not sure what that is about exactly. I know I have my bass, mid, and treble all maxed out and I still have very little bass and variable degrees of detail. I have no idea what system I have in mine, sounds like there are a couple different ones still trying to figure out what options my truck might have.

Increasing all three does nothing other than boast the volume and make it a little uneven. Start with FLAT (all center or Zero) then adjust up the Bass and Treble individually. Equalizers only do something in relations to variance of the next frequency or they are just a minor volume control if adjusted equally together up and down (in cars that is as there is no Q adjustment)

Re: SRT/Harman Audio - anyone else here unimpressed?

Is there an easy way to determine the difference between the systems?
