Stubby antenna

I saw a stubby srt-8 antenna on ebay and I would like to order it for my 2005 grand cherokee. How good is radio reception with this antenna?

Re: Stubby antenna

You are aware this is in the 2012+ SRT8 Forum right? Anybody who answers will only know about the 2012+. It is $25, can't hurt if it fits...

Re: Stubby antenna

Thank you so much for your answer. I needed someone with an srt8 just to let me know how good the antenna works. You still didn't say, do you get good reception with your stubby? It is $45 Btw.

Re: Stubby antenna

Generally speaking, the shorter the antenna, the worse the performance is. You sacrifice signal quality for style with this sort of antenna.

What he said. I modified my stock antenna to shorten it to about 10". I'm in a rural area with hills and mountains. Reception wasn't good before the change. Now it's down right horrible. I'm thinking of going back to a stock height antenna- I need my radio stations!

Ok I get what you guys are saying, I live in the Virgin Islands so we have lots of hills. Have any of you guys tried the antenna on the roof in the back?

Not sure I understand this thread. Are you referring to a stubby or a shark fin? I have a Shark Fin Antenna on my 2012 SRT8. Reception is normal for satellite and nearby AM and FM stations, but weaker for more distant AM and FM stations. If you only listen to local AM and FM, the improved appearance is worth it.

Re: Stubby antenna

I ordered an 8" stubby for $12 to see how it works. Would like to try the shark fin, was just asking anybody who had one how reception was. Thank you for taking the time to answer my question.
