Dipped and lowered

Finally got my lowering springs installed and played around this weekend with plasti dip for the first time. Tried the new nebua pearl with a 50/50 blue purple mix. Turned out "OK" for the first time, wish the color was a little darker in the light, but looks pretty mean in the low light.

Looks really nice did you spray it yourself?

Re: Dipped and lowered

Yeah did it in a day, first time so was a big learning experience. Would like to go back and do the trip and chrome rings all in black. Peel the SRT symbol and do it in black. Also debated doing the chrome cheep on the rear in black as well.

Re: Dipped and lowered

Great job! I wish I had the balls to try it myself. Do you have paint experience or was this your first go at it? Did you mask the windows etc. or cut them out when you were done? So many questions. MORE DETAILS!

Re: Dipped and lowered

No previous experience, I did use some rattle cans to dip the stock rims about 8 months ago but that was about it. It's really not so hard dipyourcar.com has all the supplies you would need, they have a pretty good forum, and TONS of videos on youtube on how to do the job. I did mask the windows and such, that was probably the worst it just took a lot longer than you would expect. The nice thing about the dip is that if there is any kind of break between two pieces then the dip will "break" on it's own and you can just peel it after the fact. So for instance the lower rear bumper reflectors I forgot to tape, I just sprayed over them and then peeled that section when I was done. Did the same with the side mirror marker lights as well. It's really pretty amazing stuff, once you get the balls up to pull the trigger on the spray gun it's really pretty easy after that.

Re: Dipped and lowered

Yup, I bought the rims, tires, and lowering springs from you a couple months back. The one that called asking about how the heck to get the springs out lol. Finally got it lowered about a week and half ago and then did the dip a few days later.

LOL... I'd never have the balls to do that but I admit it looks pretty sharp.

Re: Dipped and lowered

Well I'll admit I was having some second thoughts when it came to pulling the trigger for the first time. But at that point I already had everything purchased and had spent 2 or 3 hours masking so why not. I had done the factory rims previously so was comfortable with spraying and peeling, just a little different when it was the whole truck lol.

Re: Dipped and lowered

I love the people that just bag on anything sprayed with dip and anyone who does...and then, they see this and have nothing to say.

Stellar color choice. I really dig it and well done!

How much product did you use? Thinking of doing mine before winter. Looks great. Excellent paint protection.
